June 11, 2006 – San Francisco, CA – PipeLineNews.org - Neal A. Puckett, defense attorney for Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich - who led a team of Marines into a now controversial battle in Haditha on November 19 – states in the June 11 edition of the Washington Post that US forces that day were strictly following rules of engagement and expressly refuted charges of indiscriminate use of force:
"It will forever be his position that everything they did that day was following their rules of engagement and to protect the lives of Marines," said Neal A. Puckett, who represents Wuterich in the ongoing investigations into the incident. "He's really upset that people believe that he and his Marines are even capable of intentionally killing innocent civilians."
Sgt. Wutterich’s first person account differs sharply from band-aid warrior John Murtha’s who charged that Marines in Haditha, “killed innocent civilians in cold blood,” and following that statement by telling ABC News, "I will not excuse murder and that what's happened."
As many internet sites including Sweetness & Light and the The American Thinker are now concluding, this “massacre” originally foisted upon the American public by Time magazine [which is stuck in retraction mode on this one] is going South…fast.
This is shaping up to be a potential and major tipping point, making refutation of the leftist’s critique of the war in Iraq all the more likely.
Let's see, we had Hanoi John Kerry in Vietnam, now we have Baghdad John Murtha in Iraq. History repeating itself.
I so hope this turns out to be the ultimate rope-a-dope, where the Murtha & Co. are left explaining why they made false charges against our troops.
If this turns out like I hope, Murtha may have to rescind his thoughts about becoming majority leaders. And perhaps, a lot more!

He should resign from Congress, apologize to everyone who has laid it on the line in Iraq and never ever again bring up the fact that he once wore the uniform of the United States Marine Corps.
Did he serve with Kerry, Gore, and Clinton on some Spec Ops in Cambodia, while Hillary was trying to be a Marine?
He's living his claim to fame right now. His purple heart(s) weren't awarded at the time. They came after he was back stateside and had a chance to twist some arms.
That Murtha SOB needs to be prosecuted for libel- and that Time reporter needs to be prosecuted for producing a defective product.

If this story plays out as we believe, the Marines are innocent, only political correctness and weakness in the senior leadership caused the relief of the Marines implicated, John Murtha needs to resign immediately from Congress. He has finally and completely disgraced himself by charging his fellow Marines with a slaughter the likes of which the Marine Corps has never seen before. He has givent he benefit of the doubt to our enemies over our own brave young men, he has provided that enemy with comfort and reason for hope and more Americans have died as a result.
John Murtha, shame, shame....you have damaged the institutions you claim to love and respect. Go back to Pennsylvania and leave the governing to others. Have the common decency to do that please.
