A city official has asked Geno's, one of Philadelphia's best-known cheesesteak joints, to take down a sign......"This is America: When ordering, speak English."
Councilman Jim Kenney noted some residents of linguistically diverse South Philadelphia find the sign offensive.
.....Geno's owner, Joseph Vento, a grandson of Sicilian immigrants....(said) "I don't see much of a big deal about learning to say, 'Cheez Whiz.' "

The invaders would be ill-advised to take this to the courts---what with public opinion running against them in high numbers. This will further undermine their standing. and will reinforce the invaders' contempt for the US Constitution, our laws ---- and the safety and security of Americans. The reconquista agenda according to their own words and signage at the infamous street rallies, indicates they are lying in wait to takeover the US government with the vote---or by violence, if necessary.
They are using Third World revolutionary tactics to divide and conqueur---looking to establish on our shores a permanent Spanish-speaking sub-culture, separate and apart from American culture, with loyalty to Mexico, that they will install by usurping the US governemnt.

I saw the guy on Cavuto and he is probably a hell of lot more intelligent than this councilman.

The invaders would be ill-advised to take this to the courts---what with public opinion running against them in high numbers. Public opinion in Massachusetts is running high against gay marriage, but that didn't stop the courts from ramming it down our throats.

Who cares if someone finds it offensive?
Is that the standard now for speech? If a non white male finds it offenseive, it shouldn't be allowed? (yes)

Jim Kenney pulls on his Friday panties and decides to wade into the controversy. FEH. I would love to know if Geno's has a website that cheesesteaks can be ordered from. It really doesn't matter that the order ever gets here (Houston). It's the support of Geno's I'm interested in.

The city official should be asked if his request for the sign being taken down is done in the course of his duties as a city official or not.
To: OKIEDOC
Of course he is. He is a small business owner. I would back people who own business over government people any day of the week, in the intelligence sweepstakes. I say this as someone who's parents and siblings all work for the government.

This damned insistence on political correctness is warping and damaging our entire society. The councilman should realize that his position that English is optional to being an American has consequences.

Councilman Jim Kenney noted some residents of linguistically diverse South Philadelphia find the sign offensive. And the shop owner finds it offensive that he has people speaking jibberish to him, so is the councilman going to pass "English Only" laws? What a putz.

LOL!...If anyplace NEEDS an *English Only* sign, it's Houston, Tx!

If only I had a business to put a sign up in. No shirt, no shoes, no English, no service. Funny how in many places however that you almost have to be able to speak Spanish in order to get service simply due to practicality.
