June 9, 2006 MESSAGE FROM NATALIE, EMILY & MARTIE:
To our Fans: Any reports being made about the cancellation of our upcoming Accidents And Accusations tour are completely false.
We have known since March 2003 that our path in this business would have obstacles at every pass. We have enjoyed meeting each one head-on and we will continue to do so. Dixie Chicks fans are as active and dedicated as they come. This time around we are willingly feeling our way through unchartered territory. Things don't come as easy as they might have come in the past, and it makes each accomplishment more exciting and appreciated.
We will go where the fans are with great anticipation and no regrets. To find out (along with us) where that is, visit www.dixiechicks.com for all updates to Accidents And Accusations tour information.
Love, The Chicks

It's spelled correctly - they're making a reference to the fact that they had to let their chartered accountant go and now have a unlicensed fly-by-night guy working furiously on cooking their books. :)

Message to the Dixie Chicks, your musics not cool enough for me. Good luck and Goodbye.

They are getting around this by "postponing" concerts instead of canceling them.

Love this from the article:
Bowen, however, said about 1,500 in local sales had put the Aug. 23 show on course for a large audience. "Our presale numbers were better than expected."
Pre sale of 1500, LOL!!!

How long before one of them develops laryngitis or becomes too "exhausted" to continue the tour? Or maybe they will announce they have to end the tour because of death threats.

Weasel words. A candid statement would at LEAST have acknowledged that "some of our previously-scheduled DATES have been cancelled, but then, some have been added [in Canada]," blah blah.
No one's said the WHOLE TOUR was being cancelled. News reports have simply noted the cancellation of some play dates.

Ok I'm listening right now. No point in arguing this stuff (feel it coming?) BUT( I will anyway :-P), for one, it's only 3 part. Alison Krauss/Union Station regularly sing 4 parts, and they are flawless live. Check out the album New Favorite, particularly the song "Daylight." But besides that, you said ever, and that's just silly. I mean, if your talking all vocal groups ever? C'mon, get real.
Ok the song finally loaded. Boring 5-1 progression over and over. Those harmonies are cake. Check "Daylight" by AKUS if you want to hear really tight, intricate, spot on harms. My 2 cents. Like I said, no real point arguing. But that's my take.

We have known since March 2003 that our path in this business would have obstacles at every pass. They've got a real martyr complex.

To our Fans: Any reports being made about the cancellation of our upcoming Accidents And Accusations tour are completely false. Word parsing that would make Bill Clinton proud: individual concerts are being cancelled, but the tour is not...and as long as they have two booked concerts left, no matter how small, it is a "tour."

Look for them to become the Lake Woebegone House band.
Garrison Keillor always has room in his stable for faux-Americana.

They've hired Baghdad Bob as their new PR guy.

I think you are on to something with the possible cancellation due to soon to be cooked up death threats. Got to wonder how long it will take other venues to pull the plug on this mess. I would think that those who were supporting the DC in their anti-Bush and anti-country music crusade would have cashed in their pop cans and purchased tickets by now.

Any reports being made about the cancellation of our upcoming Accidents And Accusations tour are completely false. They're not cancelling. They'll just move the concerts to smaller venues: bars, living rooms of fans and phone booths.
