Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was alive when U.S. troops first reached him after the airstrike on his safe house, a U.S. general said, according to news reports.

I had heard early in the report that he was alive and that American troops had turned him, wounded, over to the Iraqi military. I thought that was probably a good plan :)
