Local Police Attempt to Block Collection of Pro-Marriage Petitions Agape Press - June 7 ,2006 A pro-family group in Florida is outraged over the behavior of some police officers last weekend who tried to stop a petition drive aimed at protecting traditional marriage. Last weekend members of the Florida Family Policy Council were at a Promise Keepers conference in Broward County where they were collecting petitions for the Florida4Marriage campaign, an effort to get onto the November 2008 ballot an amendment protecting traditional marriage. The pro-family group had paid a fee to have a booth at the PK event at which it was collecting the petitions in support of the campaign`s goal of gathering 611,009 signatures by July 12, 2006.
Then in what the group calls a "stunning display of unprofessional conduct," several members of the City of Sunrise Police Department arrived at the scene and ordered Council vice president Nathan Dunn to stop collecting the petitions, and then removed the petitions from public view. A discussion ensued, during which John Stemberger -- president and general counsel for the Council -- was summoned to the scene. The group says Stemberger`s request for an explanation of what law or ordinance was being violated was ignored by Police Sergeant Stephen Allen, who it says then began lecturing nearby volunteers on what Jesus taught about homosexuality, claiming that the petition effort was a waste of time and that he was the authority and they should obey him.

I'm finding it hard to believe that 5 police officers Coming from a law enforcement family - I can understand you find it hard to believe - but, how then do you explain the obvious disdain and disrespect that this photo shows? Did someone force them to act so blatantly unprofessional>? Sometimes, it's helpful to read the whole article - AND get a better "picture"? Hmmmmm!!! ============================================================= I don't know how to repost this photos with the two fags (police officers)!??!
I'm positive sure that those guys will have the "ass-naut" cadet nelson's full blessing for their acts and behavior at the Florida Panthers "home," where I believe that the PK event took place in Sunrise!
Julie; you need to paste the double faced nelson together with those dudes, plus his gesture at michael moore's fahrenheit 911!!

These two will probably vote for Two Face Bill Nelson who voted against the Marriage Amendment!
In Florida, Nelson says he supports a marriage between a man and a woman. But in Washington he votes with kennedy, kerry & klinton against the Marriage Amendment!

why don't you do a little research... Here, I'll help you out with a couple:
(Lev 18:22) (Lev 20:13)
No help at all. Sergent Allen was lecturing on what Jesus taught. Leviticus is the third book of the Hebrew Bible written long before the time of Jesus.
Maybe you should do a little research.

Jesus was a Jewish RABBI - he did not come to preach AGAINST the Bible - he came to add to it - now, you show me where he said homosexuality is just fine with Him - he condemned prostitution and was okay with homosexuality - ???
Not in my Bible - but if you can find where He did - just give us chapter and verse -
In the meantime, and until then - keep your bul*shit

My reply was to Ron in Acreage. He said: "Christians are the enemy, don't you know?"
I said: Sergeant Allen is a Christian. Isn't this just one Christian trying to force his version of Christianity on other Christians?
The article states that police Sergeant Stephen Allen began lecturing nearby volunteers on what Jesus taught about homosexuality. Take your silly Bible debate up with sergeant Allen, not me.

Yeah, Sergeant Allen is a Christian in the mold of Fred Phelps.
You honestly believe he was trying to engage these people in an honest debate about Jesus? LOL!
More like he was using the sarcasm to belittle them.

"Let us hope enough young Amerians despite their rather silly new fads and ways of learning etc., will see the dangers clearly in the years to come. And be willing to take a stand when they start to get scared $hitless that things do not seem to be what they at first appear, and move to the right, to at least diminish the dreams of the far left liberal/socialist movements, in their vast array of slightly differing forms."
Hopefully so. Already there has been a reaction against the "age of excess" among many young people.

And a lot of kids can see through things their parents cannot. Their minds are open. Not restricted to age old crap like the demorats are for the little guy and the Republicans are for the rich. They grow up faster and in more intellectual environments then many of us did.

"The officers would have had to be equally nuts to engage in the alleged actions in front of hordes of witnesses"
Have you considered the old line about "the ancient arrogance of office"? Cops are all too often convicted of just what these disgraces to their uniform did.

Most often the evils that prevail, start slowly, subtle in nature, so as not alarm the average joe or jane on the street.Definitely. That's why after the '04 election, many Lib pundits were screaming blame at Margaret what's-her-name, the chief justice of the Massachusetts Supr. Ct, for making the decision mandating gay marriage, that led to "protection of marriage amendments" being put on the ballots in many states in '04, that drew larger numbers of conservatives to the polls and sank the Kerry campaign. Some conservative pundit (Coulter?) satirized this "blame Margaret" fullisade with something like, "Yeah, Margaret. That'll teach you to turn up the heat so fast that the frog jumps out of the pan."
LOL!

Sometimes exposure does work. But many times things are not clearly exposed, or even understood by the public.
