June 7, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - Conservative rabble-rouser Ann Coulter created an uproar among 9/11 victims' families yesterday after she charged in her new book that a group of "self-obsessed" politically active widows are enjoying their husbands' deaths.
The razor-tongued blond polemicist made unflattering remarks about the high-profile widows who liked to call themselves the "Jersey girls." In Coulter's latest book, "Godless," she calls them "harpies" and the "Witches of East Brunswick."

My kind of guy!
It is the height of hypocrisy for her to write a book decrying the Godlessness of the left, then show her own lack of charity by saying the Jersey Girls are glad their husbands died.
But, hey, that's her schtick, and some folks like her schtick.
Tsst, tsst. What does them being Jewish have to do with anything? I personally think that many of the 9/11 widows/suvivors have overplayed their cards, but playing the "Jew" card is uncalled for. Shame!
Now there are many fine women as to whom Shaw was not correct. The publicity-whoring leftist Witches of East Brunswick, however, are a perfect fit.
Conservatives who hope to carry on political warfare in a perfectly polite fashion against what passes for the left today are like the folks who bring knives to a gunfight. The Left HATES to be laughed at above all else. Let us get our nation laughing and sarcasm is perfectly acceptable as a tactic.
Not only that, but the witches display an unholy joy at the attention they are getting for their leftist views. That you do not want to believe that does not make it untrue or unworthy of being noticed publicly. As even Comrade Cronkite used to say: "And that's the way it is!"
Actual conservatism as opposed to feckless political pattycake.
Annie is a bombthrower. So was Harry Truman. So what?
I'm speaking of anyone who might want to join in the discussion and might feel intimidated by people like you.
You must have a reading comprehension problem. There is a big gap between "enjoying their husbands' deaths" and "an unholy joy at the attention they are getting".
I believe that they are enjoying the attention, I do not believe that they would not trade the attention for their husbands to be back alive and with them. I certainly do not believe it is appropriate to assume that they would prefer the fame, and then say it in public as the truth.
If you can't see the distinction and how these four words blunt the rest of her message, then you are too wrapped up in this to think clearly about how this looks to the less rabid citizen.
The Jersey Girls love playing the victim, and Ann gave them star billing (again).
Agree - Those gals needed to be spanked. Granted they lost loved ones in that tragedy, they've overplayed their victim card to the hilt, just like Peace Mother Sheehan.
Actual conservatism is to be a flame throwing bitch most people wouldn't want to be around, let alone follow? I don't think so.
She turns people off. People who are conservative as anyone, but not as angry and mean as some. I don't like her attitude. It doesn't fit me. And I like my way better, so, there's that. :~D
I certainly agree with those positions as well. The problem with Medved is that he is an admitted former leftist and like other folks who have partially converted, he still has a love for large government and has been a staunch defender of President Bush's expansions. For me personally, this disqualifies one as being conservative, as small government is the backbone of the movement.
If true, my answer is that 'they' despise the attraction to Buchanan by Christian America and the Christian Judeo values for which he has all ways champaign, and they hate. Proof is their hatred reaction to 'The Passion..', and the constant regurgitating of 'crimes' by the 'clergy'.
It pithes me off.
What you mistake for anger and meanness is seasoned veteran determination.
You ought not to call Annie a "flame throwing bitch." People will mistake you for someone who is angry and mean andf may be turned off by your rhetoric.
I don't think Annie asked you to follow her. Would it make any difference if you did? How would we know? What should we look for?
We'll never win the war against the Left by playing to a set of rules dictated by the Left that only conservatives must abide by while leftists remain exempt.
Coulter breaks the precedence, and you resort to exactly the same allegations and strawman arguments that the Left themselves use when they can't debate the facts.
Coulter is a godsend and is needed now more than ever.

You aren't painting Jews with an awfully broad brush by any chance???? Do you think it might be politic to sometimes use the modifer "some" before the accusations against Jews as a generality?
If a political commentator's job is not to sell their ideas to people, exactly what is their job? Her pitch doesn't work for me. Sorry.
