June 7, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - Conservative rabble-rouser Ann Coulter created an uproar among 9/11 victims' families yesterday after she charged in her new book that a group of "self-obsessed" politically active widows are enjoying their husbands' deaths.
The razor-tongued blond polemicist made unflattering remarks about the high-profile widows who liked to call themselves the "Jersey girls." In Coulter's latest book, "Godless," she calls them "harpies" and the "Witches of East Brunswick."

Imus had on Georgie Steponaphallus this morning and they were discussing the issue and Ann's appearance on the Today Show.
Charles and Bernie sided with Ann, Georgie thought it was terrible and Imus tried to egg them all on.
They did show the clip from the Today show where Ann handed matt his lunch.

Ms. sinkspur is one of the resident cranks on the forum. Speaking of cranks, do you actually have anything to say? Your opinion of me is beside the point.

The consolation may be that everybody expects her to be outrageous and now they just shake their heads in sadness at such bottomless vitriol. As I said, I've used her over the top statements to make a point that has exposed the left.
I've not read her book yet (It's on the way) but the main topic is how the Left is Godless. I've not heard any of the left defending themselves about this main topic of her book so I'll have to assume they have no defense.
Attacking one paragraph in the book in order to make the rest of it seem pointless is part of their agenda.
It's easy for some people to buy in to it.
What did you think about the other ideas her book expressed?

"I thought pretty much the same about these 9/11 widows myself back before the elections and haven´t changed my mind much since."Yep. There's only a few of them, as opposed to thousands of other widows, widowers, children and parents.
They were discredited after appearing simultaneously on three different cable news talk shows and saying the exact same things, sometimes using the exact same words, at the exact same times. Rush played comparative clips of each woman all during his show the next day and busted the story wide open. The media backed away from them for a while as a result.
I guess the media/DNC PTB think the public has forgot about that (most of them probably have) and that it's safe to use them for propaganda poster girls again.
The point Ann makes is valid.

"These self-obsessed women seemed genuinely unaware that 9/11 was an attack on our nation and acted as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them."
Talk about hitting one out of the park. That IS SOO true. Those 4 self absorbed b%*ches claimed to represent ALL of the families who lost someone on 9/11.

I have to agree. Coulter is waaaaaay out of line.

Ann can take it. She knows these people are full of BS. I'm betting at the end of the day the country agrees with her. Heck, her book is a good read. You'll learn more about liberals than you wanted to know. Its like sex - a topic people prefer not to talk about but sometime and somewhere someone has to take it on. That's what Ann did... and she's a big girl.

What did you think about the other ideas her book expressed? Her view of origins is, with all due respect and if early releases are true, juvenile. But she knows six-day-creation sells well with her targeted audience, so she'll go with it and ignore the fact that many many conservatives are lumped in with her "Godless" evolutionists.

"Whom do you feel is not detrimental to conservatives?" I know this wasn't addressed to me, but I have to say I think Tony Snow is the best spokesman for conservatism and the Bush administration was brilliant for hiring him.

There are two never-ending, non-issue battles at FR that have been going on since the beginning, and will forever: the "true believers vs pragmatists" and "Firebrands vs Influencers". This thread is an example of the latter.
FR is an activist site. Therefore, it should be no surprise that about 60% here live for the fight. They consider themselves warriors for conservative causes, and they NEVER stop fighting liberals. Even if there was an issue they agreed with liberals on (immigration), they would find a way to ATTACK because that's what they do. And let me say here and now that they are a vital part of the conservative movement.
I do NOT live for the fight, however. Oh, before Schaivo, I was one of you, it was a game to me: attack, attack, defend, defend. It was spy vs spy, back and forth, battle for its own sake. But after Schaivo, I was wounded to the core. I waked away from that episode feeling dirty and mean, having used tactics that I would have found abhorrent in others. Never again.
I decided from that moment on, that I am a conservative, not an operative. FR has enough Patrick Henry's, I'll be a Jefferson. There is an old Indian saying: it doesn't do any good to cut off a man's nose and then give him a rose to smell. I have actually CONVERTED 3 different liberals to our cause, using honey instead of vinegar.
So call me PC. Call me a RINO because I persuade instead of attack. That's fine.
How many have you conservative warriors converted? Is your adversary very receptive after you bloody his nose?
I'm with sinkspur, for once.

Ann would be a heck of a lot more effective if she could just dial it back about two clicks. I don't think so. I know it seems "over the top", but I think she is doing a good job redefining the "top", which is good for us. All Conservatism could be labeled Hate Speech if we let them define it.
