.

June 7, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - Conservative rabble-rouser Ann Coulter created an uproar among 9/11 victims' families yesterday after she charged in her new book that a group of "self-obsessed" politically active widows are enjoying their husbands' deaths.

The razor-tongued blond polemicist made unflattering remarks about the high-profile widows who liked to call themselves the "Jersey girls." In Coulter's latest book, "Godless," she calls them "harpies" and the "Witches of East Brunswick."

ann is an upper echelon intelligence...most men simply feel too intimidated by such women and go slinking off to blonds which eptomize the 'blonde' jokes...

Actually most men can picture Coulter running off at the mouth against them the way she does the targets in her book.

She's every man's ex-wife.

The worst part of that single quote is that it lets the Jersey Girls play the victim again.

Exactly. This is a foot-in-mouth gaffe by Coulter, though, I suppose, it helps her sell books.

"But to say that they are "enjoying their husbands deaths" is to me very wrong."

But that is what they did. I clearly remember seeing them on TV laughing and smiling in an interview. They loved the noteriety. It was very unseemly.

Ann uses harsh rhetoric because the left uses similar harsh rhetoric to tear down conservatives. Two wrongs don't make a right.

But if you look at the substance of the points she is making, minus the rhetoric, Ann is correct.

Niles? Who names their kid Niles?

People who want their son to turn out gay? The name "Cecil" works for that too.

...But, like Howard Stern, she's got her demographic; it turns out that it's the same as Stern's demographic.

Uh... no. Nice try.

I don't think she meant that they enjoyed having their husbands die the way they did. More like now that their husbands are dead, and being as liberal as they are, they are "enjoying" the time they now have to use their husbands death to advance the liberal cause. To the lib it's like taking a bad situation and making a positive one out of it. Libs always enjoy that mindset.

Ann would be a heck of a lot more effective if she could just dial it back about two clicks. She might not sell quite so many books then, though.

The meanest leanest RINO exposer of all time..
Sets her trap.. The RINOs WILL S.T.A.M.P.E.D.E... On this one..

The mere hard core democrats will hardly notice..
Hardest news to them is the advance she got.. (3 million)..

Its true, the "truth" in a hyperbolic situation seems like hyperbole, when its really merely only "the TRUTH"..

Begone Troll.

You don't get to say who posts here.

Yes, the poster is new, but I'm old, and I happen to agree with him/her.

Coulter's burned a lot of bridges on her side of the aisle, too.

I agree that Ann is sometimes over the top, but when you have an enemy like the Democratic Party and MSM whose rhetoric appeals to those who never bother to get an opposing view, her comments begin a discussion that offers another side. (I love run-on sentences)
I've used her "nasty comments" to make headway with people who never considered "the rest of the story" in what they were hearing from the press.
There are all sorts of weapons you can use in a war. Ann Coulter may seem unconventional, but she exposes the enemy's weak spots and does damage to their base.

Looks like Kristen Buttweiser is a little sensative, especially since Coulter didn't name names!

Hannity is a self-absorbed little blowhard who will only face known minor league idiots in order to prop himself up.

I hate it when Hannity gives air time to the likes of Charlie Rangel (his good buddy) or Dick Gregory. I don't listen to him anymore.

"The worst part of that single quote is that it lets the Jersey Girls play the victim again."

Absolutely. Freepers can go ahead and cheer Ann all they want but the vast majority of people will hear these comments and simply think she's a nut. People who have never heard of the Jersey Girls or didn't much agree with them, will now have sympathy for them.

Of course, I've always said that I think Ann is a shrill opportunist who probably hurts the conservative cause and lowers the level of discussion. In fact, with her there's no discussion or debate. She's right and if you don't believe it she'll raise her voice and call you more names. If she were a liberal and uglier, we'd be deriding her as a poster child for the type of monster the feminist movement has created.

Ann Coulter may seem unconventional, but she exposes the enemy's weak spots and does damage to their base.

Like calling Harriett Miers a "cleaning lady," and, on Bill Maher's show, advocating Bush's impeachment for nominating her. Yeah, that showed "the enemy", didn't it?

No. Coulter does a lot of damage to the conservative side, or at least, she used to.

The consolation may be that everybody expects her to be outrageous and now they just shake their heads in sadness at such bottomless vitriol.
