If the absentee vote was returned before election day they're counted first while the registrar waits for the precincts to return their ballot boxes. If they were returned on election day, they're delayed until they can be verified.

I just did a look at the Busby vote in the April election. She gained 1.74% from the first drop of absentees at 8:15 pm to the final. If that pattern holds this time, a dead even race would be Bilbray ahead in the first absentee drop by 3.84%. Of course, the pattern might not hold this time, but as the vote totals came in, they were pretty stable. So we should have a good idea of the lay of the land in 35 minutes, if the first absentee drop is reported as promptly as in April.

I would have thought it illegal to campaign outside a polling place... or using tax funded vehicles... but as I walked into my polling place this morning, a fire truck with Cortese for Mayor signs all over it drove right by.

The sign on the door at my polling place stated to campaigning with in 100ft. My neighbor's house is with in 100 ft of the polling place. Could they make him remove yards sign?
