Although both candidates are leftist, Humala was Chavez's man in Peru...so it looks like Peru is turning away the Venezuela block and we won't have a repeat of recent nationalization and land grabs as we had in Bolivia.

Thanks for posting this Loois.
I was sincerely hoping that Peru would head for the straight vs. the crooked path.

Another exit poll gives Garcia 55% and Humala 45%.
To: LdSentinal
Anything less than a 10 point margin, would surprise the pundits.

I wonder if it's due to turnout being similar to the Gray Davis-Bill Simon contest.
Here is a Reuter's article in English on the Exit polling.

Garcia is better then Humala like getting a finger cut off is better then getting cut in half.
One you can recover from, the other you can't.

Humala is a serious crackpot...kind of like a Stalin and HItler rolled into one.
Peru is stepping back from the brink.

Garcia is better then Humala like getting a finger cut off is better then getting cut in half.Sad but true. However, this makes two South American elections in a row that Chavez has tried to give to puppets of his, and failed to do so. Hugo's "Bolivarian revolution" is far from dead, but it is sputtering of late. The media and leftists everywhere are very sad.

huge relief. Thanks for posting this.

It'd be better to give the runt a sawed-off, discharged from a short distance.

Peru is stepping back from the brink. No, they aren't. If choosing Humala is like having all ten toes on the brink, then Garcia is like 9. This election was lose-lose either way, like having to choose between Hillary and McCain in 2008. (shudder)
