Bush is the Next Reagan
Jun 4, 2006
Slater Bakhtavar - Persian Journal
The same people who heavily criticized former President Reagan for his tough stance against Communism and for his aggressive push for democracy in Eastern Europe are now attacking President Bush for his tough stance against fundamentalism and his aggressive push for democracy in the Middle East.
-They argued then that Communism would never fall - it did They argue now that Islamic Fundamentalism will never fall - it will
-They argued then that the Soviet Union is too strong - it wasn't
They argue now that the insurgency is too strong - it isn't
-They argued that Reagans vision of democracy in East Europe would never work - it did
They argue now that Bushs vision of democracy for the mid-east would never work - it will
They argued then that Reagans evil empire speech was a failure - it wasn't
They argue now that Bushs axis of evil speech is a failure - it won't be
-They argued then that former soviet bloc countries wouldn't embrace democracy - they did
They argue now that middle east countries would never embrace democracy - they will
-They argued then that Eastern Europeans nations would never be our allies - they are
They argue now that middle eastern countries will never be our allies - they will be
-They argued then that people without God could never embrace democracy - they did
They argue now that Muslims will never embrace democracy - they will
-They argued then that President Reagan was unrealistic - he wasn't
They argue now that President Bush is unrealistic - he'll prove he isn't
-They argued then democracy isn't universal to former Communists - it was
They argue now democracy isn't universal to Middle Easterners - it will be
-They argued then that funding of pro-democracy groups in Eastern European countries won't work - it did
They argue now that funding of pro-democracy groups won't work in the Middle East - it will
The same exact critcism was directed at Reagan. The future will be the judge of President Bush and my guess is that he will be judged as the Great Liberator of the Middle East.
If you have read Pastor's paper, and the SPP, you won't think it a stretch.
Pastor has said repeatedly that because the PEOPLE won't agree to integrating the country, it has to be done in other ways. Setting up transportation system that bypass sovereign border controls is one way. Unlimited illegal immigration (or immigration based on "trade") is another. We certainly have both those methods underway in the US.
I will try my hardest to overlook what I believe is spiteful and wrong.
I will never understand why a man of character and integrity and fundamental decency such as President Bush arouses such rage in those such as yourself, and it is pointless to try to either reason, or shame you into better behavior as long as you feel as you do.
I will not post to you again.
History will prove them wrong, but I wouldn't bet a cent that any of them will ever have the courage or decency to admit it.
This is an historic presidency, and we should all be thanking God that this man of character is leading us during this dangerous time.
Even if we end up in a bankrupt third world global community where we and our national identity, sovereignty and constitution are trashed these cheerleaders will still be singing the praises of George Bush even if their kids has to do it in a welfare line and sing it in Spanish.
No one seems to notice in that comparison that Regan accomplished those things and all of President's Bush's is still future and are maybe will be ,soon to be,ought to be,is going to be, etc. etc.
.
I'm on your side, BUSH's side.
But my experience with the way the Anti-Freedom Democrats rode LBJ right out of the Presidency. Just like they are trying to do to our Commander in Chief BUSH now in a new time of war.
Only this time it's our own Freedom that's at stake, not South Vietnam's.
The difference now is you and I have the CLARITY of the internet, Conservative Talk Radio and the FoX News Channel that we didn't have back in the 1960's & 1970's to make things right out there in them thar hills. Tools that would have kept a then Free South Vietnam Free back then.
BUSH is under attack by our enemies without and within.
THEY MUST BE MET BLOW for BLOW.
On our own Turf.
The CLARITY Turf.
.
LIFE
I wonder what it's all about, and why
We suffer so, when little things go wrong?
We make our life a struggle,
When life should be a song.
Our troubles break and drench us,
Like spray on the cleaving prow
Of some trim Gloucester schooner
As it dips in a graceful bow.
Our troubles break and drench us
But like that cleaving prow,
The wind will fan and dry us.
And we'll watch some other bow.
But why does sorrow drench us
When our fellow passes on?
He's just exchanged life's dreary dirge
For an eternal life of song.
What is the inborn human trait
That frowns on a life of song?
That makes us weep at the journey's end,
When the journey was oft-times wrong?
Weep when we reach the door
That opens to let us in,
And brings to us eternal peace
As it closes again on sin.
Millions have gone before us,
And millions will come behind.
So why do we curse and fight
At a fate both wise and kind.
We hang onto a jaded life
A life full of sorrow and pain.
A life that warps and breaks us,
And we try to run through it again.
Ronald Reagan
February 6, 1911 ~ June 5, 2004
Nor was Reagan's boundless enthusiasm for conservatism, and his constant promotion of it, "glib talk." He attracted tens of thousands of young people like myself to the Conservative cause. Most of us are still part of it, because of him, despite the nasty, miserable and disagreeable people we must endure for the good of it.
You can fight reality all you want but Reagan will continue to be judged as GREAT throughout the rest of American history while President Bush will be seen as GOOD.
I said president Bush was not in the same league as President Reagan, as President Reagan will always be seen as a GREAT president for a VARIETY of reasons, that I previously mentioned. I never said anything about the wrong league.
But leave it to you to make it personal.
Some people just don't see President Bush as possessing the GREATNESS of President Reagan, a reality you are going to have to learn to accept, particularly because that is the way President Bush will also be judged in the history books. I suggest you prepare yourself.
However, I would like to take issue with the following, particularly since you made the point we all should be united and stand beside President Bush:
"I will stand firm with my President."
President Bush isn't just your president, he is OUR president.
BUMP!
It's pathetic!
He has accomplished a lot and people need to support him imstead of buying into the liberal MSM propaganda.
They argue now that Islamic Fundamentalism will never fall - it will
Wrong! It's jealousy has survived since the days of Ishmael and later Esau it will not go away by a Bush magic wand. Indeed be very leery of one who brings such peace it is a false one and a great deception to the world very short lived.
They argue now that the insurgency is too strong - it isn't
Again these tribes have fought amongst themselves for 3500 plus years and have a deep rooted hate. Reality says it's not gonna happen. History days it's not gonna happen. The Bible spells out be watchful when Islam makes peace with the world.
They argue now that middle eastern countries will never be our allies - they will be
And may well turn on you in the next mis-step when it involves another M.E. nation.
-They argued then that people without God could never embrace democracy - they did They argue now that Muslims will never embrace democracy - they will
Uh the people in those nations {Former Soviet etc were Christian under persecution by their government} This article has more holes than swiss cheese.
They argue now democracy isn't universal to Middle Easterners - it will be
Oh please! As such except for very brief periods it never has been. Bush will not alter 3500 plus years of history and hate in that region.
They argue now that funding of pro-democracy groups won't work in the Middle East - it will The same exact critcism was directed at Reagan. The future will be the judge of President Bush and my guess is that he will be judged as the Great Liberator of the Middle East.
Good grief who wrote this propaganda? How blind can a nation be? The Middle East will never be at peace except when the world as a whole is deceived into a FALSE PEACE brokered by the former Roman Empire and involving the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, and the former Roman Empire.
The only thing this man is doing is helping usher in such a global system which leads to this very thing. Yes indeed such as he will be seen in the eyes of most as being a prophet and a great leader. He is no Ronald W. Reagan and to imply him as ever being such is an insult to a much greater man than Bush will ever be. Reagan didn't seek the advice of fools and then act on it. That right there is the major difference between the two men.
Bubba just passed out more rose colored glasses and ignored all the terrorists attacks that occurred.
President Bush took the bull by the horns.
The President's decision was difficult but necessary and that includes going to Iraq. Imagine if Saddam had gotten from under the restraints of the UN.....and he was very, very close.
Pray for President Bush, our troops and our people.
I stand corrected.
Is he the author of the FRC paper that is the basis for alarm? What power does he have? Seems to me that you and others are onto him.
There were many conservatives who didn't understand Ronald Reagan's greatness during his administration either.
Some of us understand the greatness of both. I suggest you prepare yourself.
"There were many conservatives who didn't understand Ronald Reagan's greatness during his administration either."
Buckley didn't agree at the time.

Regardless of whether or not conservatives understand the President's vision or not.... what makes you think that said conservatives ought to agree with it? What do you see this vision to be?
