A 12-year old survivor of the alleged massacre of innocent civilians by U.S. Marines patrolling Haditha has admitted she had prior knowledge of the plot to detonate an IED as their convoy was passing by her house on the morning of Nov. 19, 2005.
In a CNN interview broadcast Wednesday, Safa Younis - who says eight members of her family were killed by U.S. troops - recalled that she was getting ready for school as the Marine Humvee approached.
"I was planning to go to school. I was about to go out of bed. I knew the bomb would explode so I covered my ears," the youngster said, according to a CNN translator.
"The bomb [then] exploded," she explained. "The bomb struck an armored vehicle. I don't know if it was a Humvee or an armored vehicle. When the bomb exploded, they came straight to my house."
Younis complained that after the bombing killed Lance Cpl. Miguel Terrazas, his fellow Marines broke down the front door of her house.
"The American forces entered the house and started shooting with their guns. They killed my mother and my sister Nour. They killed her when she shot her in the head. She was only 15 years old. My other sister was shot with seven bullets in the head and she was only 10 years old."
The Haditha co-conspirator continued:
"And my brother Muhammad was hiding under the bed when the U.S. military hit him with the butt of the gun and the started shooting him under the bed. The U.S. military then shot me and I was showered in blood. We couldn't leave the house because the U.S. military surrounded the area with a large number of soldiers."
Younis said she survived by pretending to be dead.
But the "innocent" Haditha 12-year-old failed to give any further details about which other family members knew about the bomb plot. Or whether one of her relatives had detonated the blast.
If the civilians become willing part of the cover and concealment of the enemy, they thereby become active combatants. In Viet Nam we had children ride bicycles with backpacks full of explosives (satchel bombs) so the could get close enough to the GI's to throw in a tent or something like that. What the left dosen't understand is that you can't fight a gorilla force with conventional methods and rules of engagement.
"You don't go to war hiding behind your children."
They do! They'll just get another "wife/slave" and make some more. No big deal!
There is no evidence yet released that anyone was slaughtered.
In fact, they will not even have bodies, if you believe this morning's news. The family will not permit them to be exhumed.
Let's determine: (1) That these GI's actually killed someone, and (2) That there was no battlefield explanation that mitigates the killing.
I disagree. Translation or not, I dont buy the reptitve use of the the term "US Military". Nor do I buy the childs knowledge of US Military vehicles. It was coached. This whole story is starting to stink..
A simpler explanation is that after the IED blast, the Marines took fire from the house, and/or those nearby. IIRC, that's more or less what they reported.
I wouldn't put much store in the "quotations" since it's unlikely she spoke in English. The translator may not have been of the highest quality. There are only so many English speakers to go around, and this reporter may have gotten stuck with a real dufus. Plus the possibility that the translator, like the original reporter, and the doctor who signed the death certificates, is in thrall to the terrorists, or is one of them.
I found this article from October 7, 2005 via CNN. It was written by Arwa Damon, the CNN reporter who spoke out on behalf of the soldiers in Haditha. Read this and tell me if the civilians in the city of Haditha are just innocent bystanders...

The REAL Haditha -

Not because of the technology of the device used to set it off, except that it's not one used in a regular military mine. Rather because in absence of some sort of vehicle detection device (like a pressure detonator or magnetic influence detonator) the person pushing the button, or throwing the switch (It could be a wired system) must have a line of sight to the device, so that he or she can know when to set it off.
This is the first house. The one the shots on the Marines came from when after the bomb went off. The terrorists retreated before the Marines got there.
No, but about one could tell would be the caliber of weapon used. You could probably tell the difference between 5.56 and 5.54 mm rounds, but maybe not. But most Iraqi AKs are chambered for the older 7.62x39 round, and that could be distinguished. Of course nothing says the Jihadies don't have a few M-16s or AR-15s, captured, bought on the open market, or gotten as a gift from the Palistinians, who use them routinely, thanks to the Impeached One.
You can't match centerfire rifle bullets to the individual weapon nearly as easily as with pistol bullets.
Maybe not even soldiers...I could hear her just saying "Americans"...
This is a VERY coached child...
I would also hear her describing the vehicle that was blown up by the IED, a "truck"..which is probably what I would call it...if called upon to just tell what I saw or knew about.
Amen brother. Most of them don't seem to have the proper equipment tween thier legs.
Maybe not, nothing says the Jihadies might not have a few M-16s or AR-15s (or anything else that fires the 5.56 NATO round), and it's very difficult to match high speed rifle bullets to the weapon which fired them, as can usually be done with pistol bullets.
The more I read about this the more I don't believe it.....I just can't believe that these Marines would shoot women and children in the head several times....no one can convince me of this...
She is only 12 years old and should not be called a co-conspirator. She is a victim of the whims of the male adult relatives that conspired to kill our boys. The fault should be laid at her relative's feet.
Q. How do you know when an Arab is lying?
A. His lips are moving!
Thanks for posting. I think the civilians may have been duped into acting on behalf of the terrorists. This story has gotten more legs than any car bomb set off. Maybe AQ has discovered a new tactic?
I hope there is some reason for the killing. Did the Marines have reason to suspect that someone in the house was about to set off another explosion inside the house?
