The US must abandon its "war on terror" to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, according to the former United Nations' chief weapons inspector, Hans Blix.
The US foreign policy of pre-emptive strikes against any perceived weapons of mass destruction (WMD) threat, its development of new types of nuclear weapons and the "Star Wars" missile defence shield risked fuelling a new global arms race, said Dr Blix.
Dr Blix's warning came in a report, released yesterday, proposing ways to bring about global nuclear, biological and chemical disarmament.
The report by the independent international Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission (WMDC) said the September 11 terrorist attacks and the subsequent war on terror have led to the stagnation and abandonment of international cooperation on WMD monitoring and disarmament. In what will be seen as thinly veiled reference to the 2003 Iraq war, the report said unilateral military action had failed to stem the threat of WMD, with the cost of many lives.

Has anyone proven that Blix was on the O-F-F payroll? Sure sounds like it to me.
I doubt that's the end he uses. I'm just sayin'
That's the first time I've heard Hillary referred to in that way. Good description!
Hans,move a little to the left,now a little more."uh,OK"
We CAN'T listen to Hans Blix. After all, he's the one who said he couldn't find evidence of WMDs in Iraq. We KNOW that makes him a dope - even though Bush now says there were no WMDs in Iraq. So Blix was right - which means, of course, that he's a dope and we can't listen to him.
LOL - that was my first thot. Didn't Kim Jung Il finish him off?
Hans is going to be on Wolfie Blizter's AND Timmy Russert's shows tomorrow - - that ought to be good </s>
Condi's going to be on a couple of shows, so that will make up for it.

I couldn't quite tell, whether you are just being sarcastic, that this belongs in scrappleface, not reality, but unfortunately, it IS real. Terrorists have many friends, especially at the UN.
After playing the hapless and useless UN for the fools they are for years, Saddam moved the WMD stocks to Syria when he finally realized the GW was going to unleash Hell upon him. BTW, there were MANY reasons for hitting Iraq. The WMD issue was 10th or so on a long list.
He is, in his senescence, auditioning for The Blixie Chicks, Also he studies the uplifted posteriors in jihadist masjids..
Send them all to Botswana..

Hans...you're busting my balls Hans!
So, after the top tier reasons--sponsorship/support of terror coupled with WMD possession and development--you had the more idealistic Wilsonian stuff: democracy transforming the region, blah blah. That's where the nation-building flip flop comes in. So please. Get real.
Addendum: the other big Wilsonian rationale (more of a benefit statement really) was that, try not to laugh, that it would bolster and preserve the credibility of the UN. Saddam had broken a bunch of resolutions, so now the UN had to act. League of Nations, world gubmint. All that good stuff.
As soon as I read that I thought, ":^O Crap! What did I write now!?!?!"
Now I see yer talking about the "Dr." thing.
Well, I guess worse was a camping/drinking trip I went on with an MD friend of mine (medical....not the 20/20 kind.)
He introduced me to another Dr. friend of his. On a weekend where we're all just essentially being kids again, the new guy corrected me twice on his first name and insisted on being called "Dr. [Lastname]" instead of first name basis out in the Tx. Stix.
As expected, my natural reaction was to just call him random first names from then on. "Oh, Sorry,Dale. Uh, Ted. Oh, whatever,Vern!"
Haha! I love it! I guess I could have more clearly directed my post. But honestly, there's no need for that kind of self-importance. Good for you for just joking around about it!
I say this as a future M.D.
