The left hates the Swift Boat Vets because they were successful, not because they were unfair. They were right.

"Swiftboating" . . . hmmm . . . oh yes -- it means reporting the truth about political hacks.

Why is this debate being launched? Any innocent observer who watched the showboating senator from Massachusetts bungle his 2004 presidential campaign must know he is today a self-aggrandizing, self-indulgent showoff. Why would he not have been one as a youth, back in the late 1960s when he brought camera equipment into the jungles to film himself at war?

I was reading in Michael Medved's book Right Turns: Unconventional Lessons from a Controversial Life. He says Kerry was that way back when he was a student at Yale which confirms what some Freepers who were also classmates of Kerry's have also said.

[Kerry] has hired a researcher to prove from naval archives he was in Cambodia three decades ago for a few hours when the Nixon administration said he was not supposed to be there.

I wish him luck. That alleged Christmas trip took place during the Johnson administration.

A great column by Emmett Tyrrell, as usual. He was one of the great pleasures of the clinton years.

There is an election on the horizon and these fools for wannabe kerry are poking the hornets nest with a stick, LOL. Murtha welcomes the distraction, I am sure......but he shouldn't count on it....

"That's another of their Swift Boat-style tactics where they throw up the mud and stick it."

If that's what they're trying to describe, I believe the term is "Borking".

... some of Mr. Kerry's supporters during his ill-fated 2004 presidential campaign are endeavoring to prove him a war hero with an unblemished record of heroism.

Which would be made easier if he would sign his SF180. It might prove he was in Cambodia on Christmas.

From the article:
"What does this prove? I think it proves, beyond being a self-aggrandizing, self-indulgent showoff, this guy is a nut. Yet I leave all this to the professionals."

In light of the above, I asked a real pro on nuts, the Planter Peanut. With a tip of his hat, he said "Kerry is a nut, but we hate to admit it. After all, it is something of an insult to us real nuts."

The right honorable Swifties were the best money I spent in the 2004 elections. If the left wants to make their name a term of derision, then it confirms their integrity and honor in fighting America's enemies. JF'ingK is exactly as the Swifties painted him - a POS.

From Kerry's willingness to trash the very name of the boats he served on so briefly in Vietnam, one gathers he won't be running again as a war hero in 2008.

Have at it, Senator. Next time, you can whine that you were "wintersoldiered."

Libs have now defined "Swiftboating" as a hate term?

Hmmmm....I wonder what their term is for CBS's use of 'forged papers' to sink the President's reelection?

I love RET's reference to the Dodo. A more ridiculous-looking bird would be hard to find -- unless you looked at a democrat.

Imagine them trying to cast "swiftboating" as a hatemonger's tactic! What if Kerry's fight had been with Medal of Honor recipients (which, imo, is not too far from the reality)? Rats would be saying Kerry had been "medalofhonored" by those unscrupulous hatemongers known as Medal of Honor winners.

Democrats just don't have a clue.

In the Army we used to say, "all the brothers were valiant, and all the sisters were virtuous". It was widely reported that as a matter of campaign strategy the President, Karl Rove and the RNC were going to give Kerry his due as a decorated Vietnam veteran, but that was not enough for the hate-mongers at the DNC and their media allies. They had to attempt to make Kerry look even better through slander and libel about the President's Air Guard service. In so doing, Kerry forfeited his presumption of honor and courage as a decorated "comrade in arms". Certainly his antiwar and "Winter Soldier" activities deserved the close public scrutiny they would not have gotten but for the "Swifties".
