Illegals' tax deal could kill bill
The Washington Times ^ | Charles Hurt

Posted on 06/02/2006 4:20:55 AM PDT by 2NY

The long-fought Senate immigration bill that opponents say grants amnesty to 10 million illegal aliens is unconstitutional and appears headed for certain demise, Senate Republicans now say. A key feature of the Senate bill is that it would make illegals pay back taxes before applying for citizenship, a requirement that supporters say will raise billions of dollars in the next decade. There's just one problem: The U.S. Constitution specifically prohibits revenue-raising legislation from originating in the Senate.

im not doing any bashing but, dont you guys think that a few months ago when this whole immigration thing got started to get everyones attention away from the real issues, the republicans all got on fox news and said that aliens are a vital part of our workforce, working hard on our farms in the homeland to better this nation etc etc. wouldnt all you people feel the same way? or do you people honestly all hate the idea of people coming in and taking the jobs nobody else wants. therefore the whole wage spectrum is shifted downward if there was nobody to work the tobacco for 3.55 an hour, eh? how about all you yuppies get down to where i'm at to see how appreciative you should be of these people. you guys can all pull some tobacco. you wouldnt last an hour.

So I should be appreciative of illegal aliens and the law breakers that hire them because without them, vital American crops like Tobacco would rot in the field? Oh my!

You guys down in Tobacco country must be some real p*ssies if your crops would go unharvested were it not for illegal aliens and the crooks that hire them.

"you guys can all pull some tobacco. you wouldnt last an hour."

What they call tobacco today - poked with pitchforks, crushed, and half@$$ cured - wouldn't have qualified as floorsweepings when I was coming up. If a cropper cracked a stem, he or she was sent home. I took out plenty of barns of tobacco at 2 cents a stick. Do you recall, "Two big ones, three little ones..."? If you're over forty, I suppose you would...

Yeah. I lasted more than an hour - in fact, we started at 5:30 and would have two barns in by 9. In the morning.

No - they just want to continue paying "two cents a stick" to take out a barn.

Well, they could just TELL THE TRUTH, that the American taxpayers will be PAYING them to become citizens when almost all qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit. Then it wouldn't be a "revenue bill" anymore, right?

I would bet that most of the middle class doesn't even know what the EIC is because they've never qualified for it

I didn't listen to Kennedy during the debate (my stomach won't take it) but a friend said he acted as though he didn't understand what the EIC was, and kept saying "they will get a refund if they overpayed their taxes." Surely that was a scam on the public he was trying to pull off; as a US Senator he should be aware of how EIC works.

Consider it like a farm subsidy. This is a business subsidy at the expense of taxpayers.

The business(es) don't have to pay for any health insurance, taxes, benefits, social security taxes, etc.

They get the cheap, profitable labor at insanely low cost and the American taxpayer pays for all the other benefits including education, housing, etc.

If you have a better business model let me know. I'm sellling my business to get in on this. It's awesome!!!

All I have to do is contribute to Bush, McCain and the other elected officials and they are going to make it happen for me and my business.

That's why the golden key is being handed out.

It's a complet and utter SCAM.

The RINO's in the Senate are a bunch of pygmies who don't even read what they are passing. Depend on RINO-in-Chief Frist to find a solution to the minor problem of violating the Constitution.

I agree - massive increases in LEGAL immigration will free up Border Patrol and other law enforcement to focus on said REAL criminals.

Do you support Mike Pence's proposal?

And, I said "Keep the stereotypes flowing" - my point is that regardless of where the drugs are coming from, the vast majority of drug dealers AND users are U.S. citizens - won't stop you guys from somehow bashing illegal aliens though.

Have you ever seen what Meth does to people? Mexican mega labs are producing most meth used here

Prepared Remarks of Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales at the
National Methamphetamine and Chemicals Initiative Strategy Conference

Dallas, Texas
May 18, 2006

You can take pride in your success in reducing domestic small toxic and super labs. But now we have seen a corresponding increase in the trafficking of meth into our country. While we would still have a meth crisis without the smuggled drugs, it is the case that Mexican labs have impacted the U.S. with their product and replaced the meth once provided by domestic labs. Now, approximately 80 percent of all meth purchased in the U.S. originates from Mexican labs, whether in Mexico or in the U.S.

...using multiple IDs the invaders collect multiple $4500-$5400 EICs from the IRS by declaring several names/jobs - just by going $1 over the income limit. They also line up for EINs, ITINs, Child Tax Credit, Additional Child Tax Credit, welfare and food stamps.

They should call it the Omnibus Amnesty Bill - eh? The House should set the example - build a wall and never let the Senate scamnesty see the light of day...

This is an good chance for the Heritage Foundation to go through the Senate bill with a fine tooth comb to find all the loopholes in the bill. If this loophole was hidden in the bill, just imagine all the other loopholes that bill that have not been found. It must be riddled with them. The Heritage Foundation should then disseminate their findings before the House conference committee begins their negotiate with the Senate Also, the public has the right to know so they can make an informed judgment. Time is running out.
