Guardian gains rare access to Iraqi town and finds it fully in control of 'mujahideen'
Omer Mahdi in Haditha and Rory Carroll in Baghdad Monday August 22, 2005 The Guardian
The executions are carried out at dawn on Haqlania bridge, the entrance to Haditha. A small crowd usually turns up to watch even though the killings are filmed and made available on DVD in the market the same afternoon. One of last week's victims was a young man in a black tracksuit. Like the others he was left on his belly by the blue iron railings at the bridge's southern end. His severed head rested on his back, facing Baghdad. Children cheered when they heard that the next day's spectacle would be a double bill: two decapitations. A man named Watban and his brother had been found guilty of spying.

Bomb the place into a smoking crater. Sow salt. Repeat as necessary.
No, we just need to get the Iraqi government on its feet, and in a few years let the Iraqi Police raze the village.
Another interesting thing about this town. Here's three different accounts by the same survivor, courtesy of Velveeta.
You're right, Freema we're up to 3 versions from this child.
bump*bump*bump
Sorry I posted your piece, I hadn't got to your post on this thread yet.
bump
I this is the case, I have two questions. How did this happen? Why is it allowed to continue?
bump for reference
OMG....does it just stop there???
He doesn't write anymore about that incident??
Could it be a THIRD incident of a set up???
Why not?
The first two seemed to work....
I hope you have posted this on all of the threads..
DANG...I wish Jim would put a header for this topic up at the top of the page, like we have for a ton of other things that aren't even going on right now.
I saw this same article on another blog this morning. Amazing isn't it? Apparently it was a hotbed of terrorist activity that the US military couldn't control by the press when it was used to hammer the military, but NOW the military is being characterized as breaking into homes and shooting prayer circles. The "massacre" of innocents.
No, no bias here. Move along. **bleeeech**
Her testimony would get torn apart by any lawyer. With the evidence persented so far, there is no case. Especially for murder, nothing here would find them guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
I thought you might be interested in this article in lieu of the discussion last night. I apologize if you have been PINGed already.
Very interesting report. If we had a decent media, this would be the focus.
I am disgusted with many things - our media, primarily, but also with the attempt to run a "sensitive, caring" war. I don't think Americans should be out mowing down women and children, and this is not something we do or have ever done; but I don't think we should be trusting people (Iraqi Army) who set our guys up, betray us and their own people to the enemy, and get away with nary a rap on the knuckles for doing so. I know we're bending over backwards to show how accomodating we are, but that's not how you win a war.
BTTT
"in lieu of"? How about "in light of" or "because of". Yikes.
That is what I get for trying to write two completely separate things at the same time. **blush**
Yes, I are a blonde. ;^)
I don't know if you listen to Rush Limbaugh or not...but he had a LT.(I believe)Fitzpatrick call him from Tal Afar yesterday...
And he said all he wants, is to either be "let loose to do our jobs, or bring us home"....
I think that is what you are saying...and I agree.
Do you meen 'Abscam' Murtha?
