BOSTON - A veteran who lost both arms in the war in Iraq is suing filmmaker Michael Moore for $85 million, alleging that Moore used snippets of a television interview without his permission to falsely portray him as anti-war in "Fahrenheit 9/11."
Sgt. Peter Damon, a National Guardsman from Middleborough, is asking for damages because of "loss of reputation, emotional distress, embarrassment, and personal humiliation," according to the lawsuit filed in Suffolk Superior Court last week.
Damon, 33, claims that Moore never asked for his consent to use a clip from an interview Damon did with NBC's "Nightly News."
He lost his arms when a tire on a Black Hawk helicopter exploded while he and another reservist were servicing the aircraft on the ground. Another reservist was killed in the explosion.

...and expose Michael Moore as a lying, connivving, devious piece of excrement?
Why that is blasphemy.
I hope he gets every penny, trebled.
Because Brian Williams and NBC are prostitutes for liberal causes. They have no integrity.
Back when the movie came out, there were several who claimed their words had been twisted but this is the first I've heard who sued. Hope he takes Moore down.
Michael Moore drinks toilet water.
Used.
He pays $2 a bottle for it.
Brown , not Yellow.
Michael Moore must have gotten permission from NBC to use the clip, right? Then the movie comes out and the footage is taken out of context and NBC says squat?
Imagine if it was Fox. No. 1 they wouldn't let this piece of excremet use the footage and then if they did, they would have been out front saying it was twisted.
And what of the fact that this poor guy has been trying to get his story out for two years? It reminds me of the Swift Boat Vets who gave a couple press conferences that weren't covered. It wasn't until they ran the ads that they got noticed.
I'm glad this guy is suing, maybe there's a defense fund.
We shall all support this great soldier in his efforts to take down this POS liar and traitor Michael Moore.
Michael Moore might have to sell some of his Haliburton stock!
Right on, jveritas.
The Fahrenheit 911 lie has gone on too long.
Isn't it a shame that this great soldier who has given so much for his country overseas now has to fight the enemy on the home front?
Shame on NBC, too. Oh heck, what am I saying. It's been proven over and over that they have no shame.
What I wouldn't give to be on this jury...
This is one time I will be rooting for the personal injury lawyers handling this case. I can easily see why this case was delayed for two years as I seriously doubt this brave soldier or his friends flocked to see this propaganda hit piece. NBC and their lawyers should be all over this theft of their film by Moore.
I really dont know the details of this, but I will say that if I was in Fahrenheit 9/11 and was not asked for consent for my interview to be in there I wouldn't know it to this day. I wouldn't watch any crap by Moore even if they paid me so unless someone told me I was in the movie, I wouldn't know it.
I'm not faulting the vet. He has been fighting since day one to clear his name. It's the fact that NBC hasn't said anything when they clearly knew their footage was edited for effect. The rest of MSM is to blame as well, why didn't they interview this guy after he appeared in TWO anti-Fareheit movies.
The Sgt. is being interviewed on Fox right now.
On FOX now...says he was only a few days from injury, in bed on heavy pain medication. Doctors wanted him to do the interview to highlight new pain medicine technology. He understood the interview would ONLY be used on NBC nightly news. NBC says they never gave Moore permission to use the footage...damage control mode.
Good point.
The MSM is not interested in truth. They are only interested in advancing their own agenda. That's why they cling to stories that are proved blatantly false. Yellow journalism at its finest.
And dont get me wrong, I wasn't suggesting you were faulting the vet. It was just a thought I had as to why he wouldn't know that he was in the movie.
