White House: Haditha details to be public
AP/Yahoo ^ | 5/31/06 | Unknown

Posted on 05/31/2006 6:20:21 AM PDT by Coop

... Snow said that he has been assured by the Pentagon that "all the details" will be made available...

Rep. John Murtha... has said Marines shot and killed unarmed civilians in a taxi at the scene and went into two homes and shot others.

On Tuesday, [Snow] said President Bush learned of the killings only after a reporter from Time magazine asked questions...

Asked when Bush was first briefed about the events in Haditha, an insurgent stronghold in western Iraq, Snow replied Tuesday: "When a Time reporter first made the call."

According to the attorney for one of three Marine Corps officers relieved of command from a Marine battalion are not targets of investigations into whether their troops killed the civilians or tried to cover it up.

Meanwhile, Lance Cpl. James Crossan of North Bend, Wash., who was injured in the roadside bomb attack in Haditha, told a Seattle television station that some of the Marines might have snapped after seeing one of their own killed in action.

"So, I think they were just blinded by hate ... and they just lost control," Crossan told KING-TV, which aired the interview Tuesday.

The targets... are about a dozen enlisted Marines, according to Hackett, a Marine reservist and Iraqi war veteran who represents Kimber... [Hackett] said the highest ranking among those under investigation is a staff sergeant who led the four-vehicle convoy that was hit by the bomb.

Kimber... was relieved of command last month because his subordinates... used profanity and criticized the performance of Iraqi security services during an interview with Britain's Sky News TV...

...Hackett told The Associated Press by telephone. "He's not under investigation for anything related to what has played out in the press." [snip]

Do any of the the autopsy reports indicate deaths caused by a grenade, as this girl claimed?

No autopsies were done. The Military has asked the families if the bodies can be exhumed but so far none of them are willing to let that happen.

Well, you can thank your lucky stars that you didn't grow up in a war zone, and thus be forced to make minute-to-minute survival decisions just make it all the way through puberty.

She was not making minute to minute decisions for her family sake....her parents were! - And if they choose house insurgents, or help insurgents plant LOS IEDs...then they are fully responsible along with those insurgents.

And "there but for the grace of God go I" can be said by billions of people each day. That is no excuse.

I said (or meant to say 1 of the 3 girls) said such - Her age is rather a mute point on the whole - The reality is this young girl knew an IED was planted. Her family was aware this was planted ...and in Haditha, with this being a LOS IED...her family was likely supporting those insurgents who detonated it.

OK. You're now saying, as conclusive fact, that the 13-year-old's parents were actively aiding and abetting the insurgents.

Now, are you assigned to Iraq? Are you an interrogator/translator, or an intelligence analyst? Are you working the analysis of this event? Share!

" Those within these homes were helping the insurgents. That is the reality. This was LOS (line of sight) IED -"
You are probably right. I strongly lead that way. These people are mostly sunni in that city, thought some shia do live there.
But until the full details are known from the military I am trying to keep an open mind on the whole sorry affair.
Bottom line is the Iraqis knew the EID was planted. They knew who it was targeting. But I want the verdict to come down from impartial military investigators, and forsenic experts, before I delve deeper into this issue.
To many differing views sprouting out right now, partial retractions etc.. Like CJCS, Pace indicated, all will eventually be made known.

This was a LOS IED (which means those who detonated it had to be close to this IED and from a safe location....likely one of these houses) - We now know this young 10 year old girl (not the 13 year old...she has 3 version of her own) we now know this 10 year old girl admits she knew there was an IED planted (which means her family knew).

We also know Haditha is/was a safe haven for these insurgents and many there housed and supported them (people we are at war with!) - Her parents actively kept her there and actively knew of IEDs being planted -

They put their family at risk. Plain and simple.

There is much more to this case then has been stated publicly (like is always the case) - Did a few Marines likely go through the roof after this IED was set off...That appears likely.

But the notion that all these people were innocent victims who had no reason whatsoever to be involved in this situation is utter BS! Complete BS!.

And yes...that these parents knew IEDs were planted and did nothing....they are both directly and at the very least indirectly supporting the insurgents. And putting their families at risk in the process.

She (this young girl) is on video taped aired by CNN (world) saying exactly this - That she knew not to go to school that morning because she knew the "bomb" was going to go off. She knew the IED was planted. Her entire family knew it was planted.

I know the IED itself was a LOS IED from other sources.

The reality is this young girl knew an IED was planted.

I'm not sure that she knew that prior to the IED going off, according to the video interview. It would be interesting to know what time school starts because the girl does claim she was still in her nightclothes.

her family was likely supporting those insurgents who detonated it.

I do think that is a likely scenario.

Please answer the questions I posed to you.

Now, are you assigned to Iraq? Are you an interrogator/translator, or an intelligence analyst? Are you working the analysis of this event?

I was obviously being too generous. You can't be a day over 10 years old.

I'm not sure that she knew that prior to the IED going off, according to the video interview.

I think she clearly states that she did not leave for school because she knew a bomb was going to go off - (the CNN reporter even surprisingly points this out.....that she admits she "knew a bomb was going to go off"...not that it had gone off).

Back to interrogation mode, I see.

Can't help it, I'm an ex-cop.

I understand, because you darned sure quieted down for a while when I started asking you questions.

Coop, you only started asking questions as a means of ducking mine.

BTW, are you saying, for the record, that no such investigation is underway, and there is no prospect of anyone getting charged with a capital offense?

That you don't like the reality that this young girl has now admitted she "knew" an IED was going to go off (and therefore didn't leave her house)....too bad. Deal with it.

It shows 100% that her family was aware of what was going to take place and they were not merely innocent victims of a situation in which they knew nothing about. They most certainly were aware of what was taking place.

And I have no need to tell you who I am or what I do. Complete foolishness bud.

As I said prior which you clearly can't deal with - This was a LOS IED (which means those who detonated it had to be close to this IED and from a safe location....likely one of these houses) - We now know this young 10 year old girl (not the 13 year old...she now has 3 versions of her own) we now know this 10 year old girl admits she knew there was an IED planted (which means her family knew).

We also know Haditha is/was a safe haven for these insurgents and many there housed and supported them (people we are at war with!) - Her parents actively kept her there and actively knew of IEDs being planted -
