I've not felt the same about Mannheim Steamroller since finding out that Mannheim Steamroller and C. W. McCall are the same guy! Think about it!

Excuse me .. who is C.W. McCall. And .. by the way Rush seems to think their music is the best .. and he doesn't just applaude anybody.
So .. if you have a complaint .. spill it!

C.W. McCall in the artist who recorded the trucker/cb radio song "Convoy".

That doesn't tell me why you object to him.

Oh yeah, I remember that. I can't understand why anybody would object to that guy.

Come on! Convoy is a great driving song.
Unless you have two kids in the backseat who want to sing it for 600 miles while you are driving 55

Who else is making "A Tribute to America" CDs? Who else is donating one CD to the VFW for military distribution for every CD sold? Who else is also donating a portion of the sales to the VFW MAP military family support program?
We complain (rightly) at FR about modern artists who sneer at America and our military. Here is Chip Davis and his group writing inspirational music about our nation and supporting directly our military and their families. Let's support that kind of artist.

I you are a fan of John Tesh, warm milk, Kitaro, miracle whip, Yanni or Wonder Bread, Check out Mannheim Steamrollers tribute to America.

I don't care for "convoy", but I love Mannheim Steamroller. Chip Davis and C.W. McCall are two different men. Chip Davis is the genius behind Mannheim Steamroller.

Nothing wrong with C.W. McCall. Sure, some of the songs were really just a response to fads of the times (CB radios, etc.) but they were fairly entertaining (even if they did put the snowshed on the wrong side of the mountain in the song Wolf Creek Pass). The guy who's picture graced the covers of the C.W. McCall albums even was elected mayor of Ouray, Colorado (don't remember how long he served), but folks who grew up in that part of CO (like myself) probably have slightly fonder memories of his songs, since they told about things and places we were familiar with; Wolf Creek Pass, Black Bear Road, the Riverside Slide, the D&SNG Narrow Guage railroad, etc.
My brother's dog is even named Frank after the dog in McCall's song "Classifides". The fact that Manheim Steamroller (Chip Davis) produced them doesn't detract from the quality of music and musicianship on the Fresh Aire albums or any of the other Manheim albums.

They're making a tribute. You say thanks.
But you don't listen to it. Awful. I'd rather listen to Celine Dion.

"I you are a fan of John Tesh, warm milk, Kitaro, miracle whip, Yanni or Wonder Bread, Check out Mannheim Steamrollers tribute to America." Can take or leave John Tesh; NEVER drink warm milk. Come to think about it, have not drank much milk at all (except in my coffee) since I got out of the USAF; only eat wheat bread (though I grew up on white bread) like some Yanni; ONLY use Miracle Whip (probably because grew up with it as I imagine it was cheaper than mayonaise) and LOVE Mannheim Steamrollers--Christmas just would not be the same without their music.
And yes, Rush turned me on to them.
I'm a Nam Vet, College Graduate, Business Owners, a 50's generation and it took me a while to get used to and appreciate their unique sound--having grown up with Bing Crosby, Johnny Mathis, and yes the Chipmunks as a staple for Christmas music--but, they grow on you and are GREAT musicians. Their rendition of Silent Night is one of the BEST I have ever heard.

We were able to attend one of their Christmas concert performances this past December. If you ever have a chance, go see them in person. They give an outstanding concert and the place just bursts with their special sound.

WoW!!! Never in my wildest imagination did I figure a post about a music tribute would generate discussion... LOL! I was informed of the tribute by a mailing from the VFW, ordered myself a copy, and figured I'd share the info with my fellow patriots. I had NO idea of the CW McCall connection - and don't really know why anyone would even know about that, let alone give a crap LOL!!! Bottom line - if you like stirring renditions of songs with an electric jazz flavor; you will dig Mannheim Steamroller. 10-4???
