Sinn Féin MP Martin McGuinness has rubbished claims by a number of tabloid newspapers that he is a high-level British spy.
The claims were made on Sunday, but Mr McGuinness said today that he was certain no evidence would ever be produced to support the allegations.
He also accused the Democratic Unionist Party of being in league with the British spy-handler who was allegedly the source of the allegation.
"This is a dirty trick manufactured and constructed by people within the DUP who are now hooked up to others hostile to the [peace] process," he said

Himself and Ted Kennedy are great buddies!!
He was "widely held to have headed the IRA Londonderry Brigade."
He's now a member of the seven man army council - along with Gerry Adams.

They don't like the mention of the Hamas connection either.
The IRA has apparently begun to be Terrorist Trainers for Hire. Just show them the money.

"...I am sick to death of being lectured by Plastic Paddies about my own country!!..."
If you were to develop a coherent line of reasoning and a practical political position and refrain from referring to other posters as "Trolls" and "Plastic Paddys," you might receive fewer lectures. As regards Irish unification, it may be of no matter to you that Irish communities in the North are harassed, discriminated against and terrorized, but others cannot be blind to such things. And yes, many of those people are Irish Americans, like me. It may be fashionable in the Republic to let all the wiggers up North fight it out among themselves, but that line of argument is not as popular here.
I am perfectly ready to let you worship at the alter of Margaret Thatcher without comment. Please extend the same courtesy to those who hold different opinions.

I bet the IRA network more than matches the AQ network in size, that thought entered my head when you told about IRA involvement in Chile.
And the funds the IRA gets - a lot of it is funnelled into Sinn Fein's election machine - Sinn Fein is the richest party in this country! Of course, they aren't a political party - just a front organisation!

The people of NI are being harassed by the IRA, not by the British. Last time I checked, Britain was a parliamentary democracy, the IRA are a pro-Castro terrorist group.
No more excuses - you support the IRA, I have no respect for such opinions, nor am I in any way obliged to respect them.
And what's wrong with Margaret Thatcher? Have you a problem with one the greatest conservative leaders in British history????

Who made "rubbish" a verb? That's a load of - oh, never mind. Only Lynne Truss and I still care.

The claims were made on Sunday, but Mr McGuinness said today that he was certain no evidence would ever be produced to support the allegations.Sounds like a message to his handler: "Please don't rat me out."
Or maybe not. Too complicated for a simple Yank.
