Questions CBS News Must Answer Now About Today's Attack (Public's Right To Know)
29 MAY 06 | Doctor Raoul

Posted on 05/29/2006 3:14:31 PM PDT by Doctor Raoul

What protective equipment was provided (armor, helmets, etc)?

Who are the maunfacturers and what are the model numbers?

Was that equipment state of the art?

Was the CBS team provided with weapons, personal security or medical aid by CBS? If so why not?

Were the CBS News team taught first aid?

Why were two of the team members British nationals?

What is the percentage of Americans that CBS News sends in harm's way? If under 50% why?

Did CBS News arrange for adequate insurance for members of the team, especially the foreign nationals?

Who paid for that insurance, CBS or the team members?

Who paid for their armor, helmets, first aid kits, if provided?

Who in CBS News is in charge of personal security for news teams?

How often are security measures reviewed?

What are those security measures?

Does CBS News know if their staff includes any spies? How do they know?

Who at CBS News screens local nationals and what operational security meausres are used by CBS News to protect information?

Before Monday's attack, the Committee to Protect Journalists had put the number of journalists killed in Iraq at 69. Of those, nearly three-quarters were Iraqis, the New York-based group said. Why?

How much is the average salary paid Iraqi employee by CBS News? Are they provided with healthcare? Insurance?

What are the duties of Iraqi nationals called "fixers"?

PLEASE CONFINE THIS THREAD TO QUESTIONS FOR CBS NEWS OR EXPANDING ON QUESTIONS ALREADY SUGGESTED.

Thanks.

Thanks for saying that. All the threads I've seen here on the CBS peoples' death have shown something close to glee. Very disturbing. "Getting back at the MSM"? How does acting just like the worst of them "get back" at them?

These people, British and American, media and soldiers were on OUR SIDE every one of them. I understand CBS was doing a story on the troops daily routine on Memorial Day when this tragedy occurred.

CBS news is devoting almost 10 minutes to the story. The reporters are more important than the military deaths. The reporters are being described as heroes.

I am sad for the people all of the innocents who died in this war; we are over there to protect America from the terrorists who want to kill us, and the journalists were over there by choice.

I do consider them victims, I just hope the news reporters realize the terrorists would love to do this in America, and that is one reason why we fight.

I'm grateful that CBS has thoughtfully provided us with so many details about these heroic reporters. We were told the names of their wives and the names and ages and numbers of their children and grandchildren and how loving they were to them and how much they'll be missed and in what other countries they displayed their heroic-ness and special reporting talents. But through my tears there's so much more I need to know. What did they have for breakfast? Were they wearing clean underwear when they died? How can we find out these things? CBS did briefly mention that an American soldier also died in the attack. I guess that they didn't ask his name or anything about his family but if we could get in touch with his wife, perhaps the soldier had talked to her about some of the unanswered questions we really want to know about our brave CBS reporters.

"This thread was started as a sarcastic swipe at CBS, who you may have forgotten has not been the friend of the Troops or of the Administration." Somehow I can't work up any enthusiasm for dancing on these people's graves. Perhaps some of the folks on this thread who are doing so, should begin to wonder whether there's all that much space between them, and the nice people who did the same for the Blackwater Security folks.

I agree with r9etb on this. There is a fine line between dark sarcasm and tasteless humor. In this case I feel that the line is being crossed with some, if not many, posts on this thread. Especially if they are taken as written without the benefit of knowing the context. Tall_Texan's post is one such post (and I am not meaning this as a personal attack):

Did CBS News do this intentionally after seeing all the sympathy and interest given to Bob Woodruff? Did CBS News do this in a desperate attempt for May ratings sweeps?

Story? Fable is a better word to describe something CBS News puts out.

I'm sure it would have been a story that would be a downer rather that uplifting. Quagmire and such.

You have no idea what the story would have been. But even if you disagreed with how it was reported these are British and Americans. Try to show a little respect for the dead. Otherwise, you and the MSM = pot and kettle.

In addition to their timeline, what is CBS's Exit Strategy to bring all their reporters home before more are hurt?

Then let me explain my comments. Most of my points on this thread have been about media and leftist reaction to Cheney's shooting accident. Some on the left wondered if the shooting was a sign for some other Cheney enemy or for Scooter Libby not to speak, etc. Others claimed Cheney intentionally shot his friend to take the media focus away from the "Plamegate" media storm.

In other words, they accused Cheney and/or the Bush Administration of shooting the guy intentionally for ulterior motives. In my way, I am reflecting the same nuttiness back upon the leftists of CBS News.

BTW, I hate having to explain myself to folks who either can't keep up or who don't get the humor. Perhaps I can stalk your threads in the future so I can call you racist or tasteless. What were you expecting when you opened this thread other than to find something to become offended by?

I guess it would be unreasonable to expect a media frenzy over a picture of a reporters mother laying on her sons grave, wouldn't it ?

If not, did Bush order it so? Or was it Cheney? Was there a non competitive bid given to Halliburton for the return of the coffins?

Will the Phelps group be allowed to gather with their disgusting signs at the funerals?

You are totally misunderstanding this thread. There is no glee here at these deaths. We are doing a 360 on the MSM news.

You have no idea what the story would have been.

Yes I do. It's not like David Duke is going to wake up and propose marriage to Oprah.

But even if you disagreed with how it was reported these are British and Americans. Try to show a little respect for the dead. Otherwise, you and the MSM = pot and kettle.

Sod off with your strawman. I'm giving CBS a lession on how they treat others and I've not spoken of the dead except for how they may have been misused or abused by CBS News.

Enjoy Frankenland.

Giving CBS a "lession" by making humorous posts about their employees deaths. Yep, I see the logic in that. I'm sure you're teaching CBS a good "lesson".

What is "Frankenland"? Strawman, maybe?

Feel free to respond with more expletives. I won't read them.

No need to explain your self; I understand perfectly where you are coming from and why you posted your comment. My cynicism over the drive-by-media's coverage of the Iraq war and their treatment of the troops is as intact as yours is. And that's what this entire thread is about.

But, I'm looking at the bigger picture. Comments on this thread, taken out of context from the point of this thread, will be used on numerous blogs and in editorials/opinion pieces in an attempt to show how heartless, uncaring, insensitive, blah, blah, blah, we right-wing people are. I'm as fed up with the media as are the rest of us but at this time I say step back. In my opinion and that of several others on this thread we should express our condolences and, notwithstanding the collective disdainful behavior of the press toward the men and women of the armed forces, we should not let our anger be directed at a news organization whose members are grieving at this time.

My sympathies go out to he family of the 2 men who were killed and the woman who was wounded.

A question repeatedly asked by the MSM about our soldiers could be applied.

For example. 17.5% of the American population are black, yet 50% of the CBS employee deaths are black (in this instance). Is CBS discriminently assinging dangerous assingments to minorities. There is a great disparity between 50% and 17.5%
