No need to explain your self; I understand perfectly where you are coming from and why you posted your comment. My cynicism over the drive-by-media's coverage of the Iraq war and their treatment of the troops is as intact as yours is. And that's what this entire thread is about.

But, I'm looking at the bigger picture. Comments on this thread, taken out of context from the point of this thread, will be used on numerous blogs and in editorials/opinion pieces in an attempt to show how heartless, uncaring, insensitive, blah, blah, blah, we right-wing people are. I'm as fed up with the media as are the rest of us but at this time I say step back. In my opinion and that of several others on this thread we should express our condolences and, notwithstanding the collective disdainful behavior of the press toward the men and women of the armed forces, we should not let our anger be directed at a news organization whose members are grieving at this time.

I understand your concern. At least I'm not talking to somebody who doesn't "get it".

IMO, we are not ridiculing this specific reporter, her staff, their families or anyone connected to the event. Rather, Raoul is parodying the difference between the media as they cover themselves versus how they cover politicians they look upon with disgust and disdain.

It really won't matter whether liberal bloggers, etc., will try to take this out of context because they will take it out of context anyway. It's along the lines of not saying anything to offend the Muslims when the Muslims already hate our guts. What is to be gained by trying not to offend them? Bush himself tried that tack for five years and it has gotten him nowhere because the callous bastards of the left hate him anyway. So, there's no point in 'playing nice' with the left anymore. They show their true colors everyday.

Aside from political contexts, I find it extremely offensive whenever the media sticks their cameras in the faces of grieving widows and parents to ask them that all-important question "how do you feel?" - particularly if they can use the footage to stick another knife in a president they want removed. So, I'm really not bothered by giving them a slight dose of their own medicine, no matter how bitter it tastes.

If the light comes on in the brain of even one reporter how callous and insensitive they look in trying to further their own political agendas or attempting to boost their ratings or win a Pulitzer, etc, then maybe they won't be so insensitive themselves the next time they have to cover dead and wounded soldiers or personal tragedies.

But, far more likely, nobody besides us is reading this or cares.
