Wash. GOP issues resolution on immigration

The Washington state Republican Party has adopted a resolution calling for an end to the Constitution's guarantee of automatic citizenship to the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants.

Delegates supporting that platform said their concerns included the cost to public hospitals and the expense of welfare for the children of indigent or deported illegal immigrants.

"I think voters realize immigration is a problem and we are trying to grapple with solutions to the illegal-immigration problem," Diane Tubeless, state GOP chairwoman, said of the resolution adopted Saturday with little debate and few dissenting votes.

The 14th Amendment says: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

State Democratic Party Chairman Dwight Pelz called the GOP resolution "a punitive and inhumane response to the immigration issue America is confronting" and said it would prove to be an "embarrassment" to Republican candidates.

The OPPOSITE will be true. IF the Republican party stands up for what MOST AMERICANS, (even LEGALIZED IMMIGRANTS from other lands)WANT, They will only gain......not lose!!!

One more thing..........if we stop handing out FREE CITIZENSHIPS to newborns of illegals, MANY will not come here. They come for benefits THROUGH their offspring. I KNOW. I have been a foster parent for over 38 years, and MOST of the little ones that came to me with negect issues were children of illegals, on drugs!!

Washington State should start with the illegal elections first. Like the illegal alien Gov. Gregoire..... how many dead and homeless votes did she get? Enjoying your fuel tax increase you Washingtonians foisted on you by your witch governor?

Oh now SS 55...my little rant was not aimed at you....just at the injustice of the stolen election up there in Wa state. The issue of illegals is more important at this point and thanks for your post. Anyway to get rid of DeWine in Ohio?

FWIW, I thought this was the result of a judicial interpretation of the Constitution...

I didn't realize it until I read "Alien Nation" by Peter Brimelow but, even though this amendment was passed after the Civil War to stop Southern states from denying slaves the full rights of citizens, the wording was general enough that it has been construed to mean that any child born in the US is a citizen, even if the mother is a foreigner and even if she is just passing through.

The phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" was intended to exclude from automatic citizenship American-born persons whose allegiance to the United States was not complete. In the case of illegal aliens who are temporarily or unlawfully in the United States, because their native country has a claim of allegiance to the child

What a priceless freudian slip. No she isn't tubeless, she's gutless. Actually her name is Tubelius. She was all for a really pro-Mexican platform plank until the grassroots gave her a wake-up call. Now for the moment she's spouting the Conservative line, but not for long. She'll be back to singing her old "let 'em all in" tune shortly.

Actually, not that I'm by any means a fan of the Queen, but she didn't "foist" the fuel tax increase on us. We, the idiotic citizens, actually voted in favor of it.
