All that noise for this? How much do you think it cost to make that movie?

What's the background for the story?

Should I know what "an inconvenient truth" is? ...

Sorry, I've got to tell you an inconvenient truth - I don't watch movies nor follow Hollywood, so I have no idea what inconvenient truth you want me to comment on. 8<)

I have no facts or figures to back this up, but I think this movie opened much better. Made more sense, too.

Given the leanings of Hollywood, I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of people donated their time to "Saint Al".

That's not bad for only 4 theatres. In a wider release his gross would go up but the money per theatre would drop dramatically once they can't artifically pack the house

Not to say that I like Al Gore, which I do not, but $66K per movie theater is quite a lot. At ten bucks a pop, that's some 6,600 people per theater. Those numbers don't seem right to me??? Anyone else?

I don't go to movies either (and wouldn't recognize either of the parents of that baby born in Namibia yesterday) but I do read FR. "An Inconvenient Truth," is Al Gore's Global Warming (We're doomed.) movie.

How many busses of schoolkids paid for by an 'anonymous' donor did it take to do this?

......How much do you think it cost to make that movie?....

Probably nothing. It is likely that it will be paid for from some kind of government grants, air quality fund trades, tax credits, and tax losses against other profits.

A rat made it as a political statement. For certain they spent no personal funds.

...paid for by an 'anonymous' donor...

Reminds me of the "book" put out by Fort Worthless Jim Wright that got him drummed out of congress.

They're using the Brokeback Mountain release strategy. It's currently in 4 theaters (2 in NYC, 2 in NYC) and will start expanding distribution to the major gay markets over the next month. Based on the market list, it looks highly unlikely the movie will ever make any real money.

Having a science-illiterate society cuts both ways. First, they're easy to dupe with movies like this; secondly, they're not likely to see a movie like this because it smells like homework.
