Sorry.
The insurgency is fortified every time Murtha opens his mouth. Murtha doesn't give a rat's ass about the effect of HIS ACTIONS on all our troops who are on the ground.
That asshat isn't, hasn't, and won't do a thing for our troops.
I want my son fortified.
Kristol is Fred Barnes' boss at the Weekly Standard.
Kristol has always been in favor of open borders.
Barnes is against the death penalty and has always been "wet" on a lot of conservative issues.
That about sums him up
More Reps voted against the Senate bill than voted for it: 32 to 23.
Of course Dowd's polls are baloney! How do we know? Just look at the way candidates are RUNNING and what they're SPENDING their campaing dollars on, then look at who's winning and losing elections since the illegal alien demonstrations took place.
So he(Murtha) has to keep in the news about something else all the time. The further non-related from corruption in allotting defense contracts the better for him.
Being against the war is as good as anything. If we go after him on anything else now it will look like we are just out to get him. He needs that buffer, bad. All rats learn how to play the(stay out of jail) game from their teachers the Clintons.
Like so many things associated with illegal immigration, no one has the facts, just some estimates based on questionable data. If history is any guide, the number of illegals is seriously underestimated.
Sorry I've been gone so long, had a bout hospitalization w/CLL LeukemiaI broke my previous hospital record wbc count, almost got to 500k! Had'da get'em centrifuged out, then lots'a transfusions, which of course got me a bad one and went septic with Psudomona infection. Ick!
Anyway, just to pass alongI discovered thru a fellow vet that if you are a Viet Nam Veteran and have come down with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), It is "More likely than not" that you were exposed to Agent Orange if you ever set foot in Viet Nam for any length of time. (I always thought it applied to the Air Force guys that flew the planes, or grunts that walked through it. Apparently that wasn't true.)
Full disclosureI'm a "combat vet" by courtesy only; I served during the last war cruise of the Intrepid. The only time I set foot in Nam was when I picked up mail/parts/people on the COD. The most martial job I had was pushing Mk. 82's in "G" div during Tet.
The point is, I don't think some guys realise how pervasive Agent Orange use was, and if you're a vet who has it, you should check with the VA and see if you may have been exposed. Pass the word around...
Otherwise, It's nice to be back. Now about Chuckie Hagel ... Grrrrrr!
He left it unsaid that Truman was deeply unpopular at the end of his two terms in office and that it took a generation to appreciate his achievements. That is in NYTimes, if you can believe.
Have you seen ALL that is in that Senate Bill??
I would rather have no Bill then what the Senate passed
As for Frist putting the House Bill alone up for a vote .. he can't because it would be voted down
Tim get's his figures from a most reliable source, La Voz de Aztlan, the PR (propaganda) arm of La Raza.
No arguement here with the basic premise of both your posts.
Just want people to keep in mind their is an economic benefit to our economy from the illegals as well as costs.
Here is what we should be doing.
1. Enforce the border. (Do this now)
2. Get a grip on just how many illegals ARE here. (Probably require 2-3 years of concentrated effort)
3. Decide on some sort of "Guest worker" or expanded Immigration based on the economic effects seen from 1 and 2.
Sorry to say the Politics from President Bush have been all messed up. Requiring "Comprehsnesive Immigration Reform" is the same sort of "give me all or nothing" mindset that gets legilsative inititves kills in Congress.
If he had started on issue 1 say 4 years ago right after 9-11 then was moving to 2 now, he might of had a shot at doing 3 before he leaves office. Now I fear NOTHING will get done except until we get a serious Senate Leader to replace Frist.
If the Repbs hold the Senate anyone know who will replace Frist as Majority Leader who is retiring?
We better stop, I hear Morgan is selling autographs.
The children are pawns in this battle. My Niece goes to an A+ Elementary School in SW Florida, and they recently had a Heritage day at the School where the Children had to bring something to eat or "show and Tell" about their Ancestry, with very few exceptions these Children all told of "Walking across the Desert" to America. That says that all these children are illegal, and nobody in charge in ICE is doing anything about this. I could go on all day about what the ICE and the Police are told to ignore. The problem has to be solved and I am glad that GWB is doing something, but we have to make sure that our Congressmen know we will not stand by and watch Amnesty become law. Wow, am I ever behind today..
I agree. Murtha is trying to give himself cover for upcoming charges of corruption.
The Senate bill increases LEGAL immigration threefold and doubles the number of H1B visas for starters. Also, as Sensenbrenner said on Friday, there are two are two groups that receive amnesty in the Senate bill, the illegals and the employers.
The good news is that Murtha's worthy opponent, Ms. Irey , should get lots of campaign donations and has tons of anti-military material to chose from an blast him with in ad commercials.
You may be forgetting the employers' matching funds but your point is still right. The SSI argument is a nonstarter, the poor are not contributing anything.
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
Lott has been doing a lot of back room dealings in an attempt to win back the Majority Seat
