D.C. Chapter to Counter Fred Phelps Group at Arlington Nat'l Cemetery on Memorial Day 5/29/06
Friday, May 26, 2006 | Kristinn

Posted on 05/26/2006 2:07:50 PM PDT by kristinn

All FReepers and lurkers in good standing are urged to join the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic this Memorial Day at Arlington National Cemetery as we stand up against the Fred Phelps led Westboro Baptist Church.

Phelps and his cult will be doing their "God Hates Fags," "God Loves Dead Soldiers" schtick on Memorial Drive near the entrance to the cemetery.

We'll gather in opposition to send a positive, patriotic message of gratitude to the families of the Fallen who will be arriving at Arlington for the wreath laying and speech by President Bush that morning.

An excerpt from the press release by Westboro Baptist Church:

Thursday, May 25,2006 NEWS RELEASE Thank God for lEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) God Himself Has Now Become America's Terrorist, Killing and Maiming American Troops in Strange Lands for Fag Sins. WBC to picket Arlington National Cemetery - at 10:15 a.m., Monday, May 29 - at Jefferson Davis Hwy. & Memorial Drive,Washington, D.C. (Virginia) - in religious protest warning: God is not mocked! Gal. 6:7. God Hates Fags! & Fag Enablers! Ergo, God hates the U.S.A. and Memorable Day idolatries.

The D.C. Chapter will arrive at 8 a.m. to get set up along Memorial Drive with the MOAB and our flags and signs. Parking at the cemetery is going to be tight, which is another reason to get there early. There is a Metro station at Arlington that is served by the Blue Line.

Please forward this announcement to those you know who would be interested in joining us Monday morning.

As always, the D.C. Chapters rules for demonstrating will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

Funny thing is, I've never heard them claim to love God.

The leader of their "church" is not Fred Phelps, it's Satan. He can always rely on Fred to do his bidding.

That would be awesome. Section 60 is to the left next to Eisenhower Dr., between York & Bradley.

LUCKENBACH, ELGIN J

DATE OF BIRTH: 01/14/1921
DATE OF DEATH: 04/16/1944
BURIED AT: SECTION 60 SITE 8350
ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY

I think it is awesome that after over 60 years on a hillside in New Guinea, he and his brave companions finally came home.

Even though I am too young to have known him, I know of him, and it brings tears to my eyes to think that someone who was much loved, loved his Country so much. A son of German immigrants but willing to sacrifice everything to preserve the freedom his family had found in this Country.

My Dad who was retired Navy was the son of a Swedish Immigrant on his Dad's side. His Mom's relatives were English who had fought for independence in the American Revolution. When I think of the sacrifices and service so many have given for us I am overwhelmed.

Congress has addressed this as of yesterday

Nah - they don't need to fine the SOB's. They need to post a bounty.

Wonderful to have the exact location.

I know Eisenhower Drive and can find the rest easily with my map.

We are taking red, white and blue arrangements this time and will make one for you.

We have ordered fresh roses and combine them with white artificial stems that are sparkly. I do not know if the blue will be from the iris family or blue ribbons. We have made huge blue bows in the past. Blue flowers seem the most difficult to find.

We have not decided if we are going more than once, but definitely on Monday morning so I can stop and support the FREEPERS at the rally in front of the cemetery.

This is how I feel-
Why is it OK to use violence on anti-American fanatics overseas but we are supposed to just sit back passively when the homegrown desecrators of American fighting men are flaunting their hate for this country?
Thats why I would never attend a "protest"of Phelps.I refuse to be non violent.Bottom line.

"Addressed does not mean do anything. WAKE UP!!!! Congress is worthless."

I give them credit when they at least make the right noises.

The Senate have proven they are worthless but there is still hope for the Congress, IMO.

"They need to post a bounty."

Too many of us would handle this without a bounty.

3D-JOY, thank you so much. I told my Mom about this, and she also is very grateful for your kindness. I had been a bit bummed when they decided to inter him in Arlington instead of here because it's so far away from the rest of us. On behalf of his family, many thanks.

I went to Arlington today and i can't wait to see what happens to those people. They've picked the wrong place to protest this time. I think they'll be grossly outnumbered this time.

My feelings exactly – but my late wife tried really hard to domesticate me, and make me “civilized”. I’m trying hard to live up to her standard.
