Judiciary Committee will be Conferees on IMMIGRATION BILL
www.senate.gov ^ | 26 May 2006 | David Osborne

Posted on 05/26/2006 1:25:54 PM PDT by davidosborne

It has come to my attention that ALL members of the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE will participate in the conference on the immigation bill..

Our battle is not with the Senators who voted on the "Senate Version" on the bill....the two bill are "oceans" apart.. with the house version being a MUCH BETTER BILL !! our battle is with the Senators who will go to conference with house.. which I just found out will be ALL MEMBERS of the Judiciary Committee and then some additional Senators yet to be named by Reid and Frist !!!...

WE NEED TO LET THESE FOLKS KNOW that we SUPPORT THE HOUSE VERSION !! NOT THE SENATE VERSION !!! now get er done !!

---> for now we can focus our efforts on the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE MEMEBERS !!!

Arlen Specter Orrin G. Hatch Patrick J. Leahy Charles E. Grassley Edward M. Kennedy Jon Kyl Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Mike DeWine Hrbert Kohl Jeff Sessions Dianne Feinstein Lindsey Graham Russell D. Feingold John Cornyn Charles E. Schumer Sam Brownback Richard J. Durbin Tom Coburn

I have written an OPEN LETTER to the conferees and I encouge EVERYONE who cares about this to do the same.... feel free to copy/edit/distribute my letter..

MY OPEN LETTER TO CONFEREES

The House should take the position that they will not even conference on the Senate bill, it is such an abominable piece of legislation (excrement!).

The House members are the ones to contact. The Senators have already gone on record for a particular position with their votes.

It's not like Spector or Durbin is gonna get some letter and think "maybe amnesty's not such a good idea after all."

It was my understanding that 7 of the 10 members of the Judiciary Committee would be among the conferees. I s this no longer the case?

We must not let the Senate Bill become even the majority of any new immigration bill. We must speak out. Congress does listen to overwhelming sentiment.

There are a few conservatives who voted no on the Senate bill that also appear on the conference committee. Seeing the likes of Specter, Kennedy, Brownback, Schumer, Feinstein, Durbin, Hatch, Leahy, Feingold, Biden, DeWine and Graham stacks the deck in favor of the Senate bill. Kyl, Cornyn and Sessions are going to be easily outvoted. The composition of the House members is crucial to the outcome.

The Senators have already gone on record for a particular position with their votes.

Sure would cool their ardor if one or two of the Repubs - maybe Graham, Brownback, etc. - found out there are recall efforts getting started in their home states just before they go into conference w/ the house.

I'd start one against my senator but I'm not inclined to slamming my head against the pavement.
