Do we know why Frist voted nay after he and Reid voiced support earlier in the day? I know that if a bill is going to die, he needs to vote nay in order to be able to reintroduce it. Perhaps it's a hedge in case the reconciled bill goes down?
Byrd bucked his party line and voted no. Is that election-related?
Call, write and email your Representative every day. If no action is taken before their summer break, see them in person and attend events where they appear if you can. Worth a visit to their local offices before they are back too.
No no no, Frist voted yea. The senator's vote is printed AFTER their name.
At least I am not ashamed of voting for Santorum. Made a point of voting in the primary.
I had heard that some voted the way they did, due to close re-elections, so maybe.
Frist (R-TN), Yea
Only 25 wanted to continue to change the bill.
There were 11 Senators who voted for it before they voted against it.
There are a lot more RINOs in the Senate than conservatives.
Conservatives almost always threaten RINOs.. RINOs almost always court conservatives in office. That is how they are able to convert conservatives to RINOs.
You do notice that when they are first elected they tend to be Conservatives. .. but after a few years they join the RINO ranks.
Sigh....on the original thread, he was listed as Nay.
Perhaps they were mistaken on the other thread and reproduced the vote for cloture.
33 Republicans voted against this bill (the majority of Republicans). I can only pray the House sends this to the infernal regions where it belongs.
We need a Stop McCain Now movement. How can this guy be the frontrunner for 2008?
it passed however it is a far cry from the house version.. its off to conference we go.. I suggest we get a list of the conferees and tell them.. BORDER SECURITY AND ENFORCEMENT FIRST.. everything else SECOND
The Senate bill will never get out of Committee -- NEVER. It's DOA. I seriously doubt we see any changes at all.
who amongst these Republicans the voted yea still has a primary?
Did you notice the FR poll? If he gets the nominee, and I believe he will, he gets the votes.
Some reasons for Byrd and Stabenow voting no.
1. Re-election bids.
2. Objections of private sector unions
3. Low income voters in some areas of States not thrilled with amnesty program.
Thia ia rhw list of conferees... I suggest we start the campaign NOW !!!
