There are a lot more RINOs in the Senate than conservatives.

No, there are more conservatives than RINOs. But it's not that many, about a dozen, depending on the issue. Just go to the link where it says, "Grouped By Vote Position." In the NAYs ---36, there are only 4 dems.

I'm glad to see Jeff Sessions on the list.
I'll call, write, and e-mail him. He has surprised me and stood remarkable by his commitment to no amnesty!

I totally agree with you. The American people need to flood these schmucks with calls, letters, and emails. I can't believe these lunatics are so "in your face" like they're royalty and we're their subjects. This mess absolutely turns my stomach. I pray that the voters send all of them back to the real world. We need to clean house in DC.

I just interviewed my rep on the air until she had to go to vote on something. Don't know what she was voting on.

From another thread on the same subject:

23 REPUBLICANS voted Yes
38 DEMOCRATS/INDEPENDENTS voted Yes
32 REPUBLICANS voted No
4 DEMOCRATS voted No

(Note: 2 pathetic weasely 'rats decided to wimp out and not vote: Jay "Let's warn Syria and Iraq they're going to be attacked and the media ignores my admission and then blames Bush when no WMDs are found" Rockefeller and Ken "Dr. Dobson is to blame for everything that is wrong in America" Salazar)

Let's do the math: 42% of the Republicans in the Senate voted yes
90% of the Democrats voted yes
58% of the Republicans voted yes
10% of the Democrats voted no.

Clearly, a high plurality of the Republicans screwed the pooch on this vote. You find the usual suspects here: Chafee, Collins, DeWine, Voinovich, McLame...and some are overall good conservatives if the ACU ratings are reckoned: Bennett of Utah has 87 lifetime rating, McConnell of Kentucky has a 90, Warner of Virginia is an 81, Gregg of New Hampshire is a 79.

I hope the "let's abandon the Republicans" crowd can clearly see the problem isn't with the Republican Party as a whole, and I hope they work to change it instead of walking completely away and turning the federal government over to the 'rats.

REMEMBER !! this is not the vote that counts.. this just gets its to conference with the HOUSE bill which is FAR BETTER !!.. we need to put the heat on the conferees..

I just printed the source document of the bill and the Senate voting record. Then when the shti hits the fan in a year or two, I have documentation to present to liberals.

"You do notice that when they are first elected they [pre]tend to be Conservatives. .. but after a few years they join the RINO ranks."

You'll notice I changed what you wrote a bit.

Will everyone please now STFU about Santorum. Pennsylvania doesn't even have much of an illegals problem and he still voted the right way on this.

It would be good to see the list of incumbents up for re-election in 2006 and see who were the good guys and who were not.

58% of the Republicans voted yes

No, 58% of the Republicans voted no, i.e. 32 out of 55 pubbies voted Nea. Otherwise, I agree with your sentiments. Staying home or voting that would give control of either House in Congress to the dems can rarely do any good. The exceptions for me are when the RINOs are especially egregious, particularly with the Second Amendment.

So, we have nine Dems and nine Republicans who are on this committee. Of the nine Democrats, all voted for the bill. Of the nine Republicans five voted for the bill and four did not. That means you have fourteen out of eighteen who will be pushing for this thing in conference.

Given these odds, it is obvious the house members will have to make a determined stand for what's right. Those "sinators" never like being told what to do, and our president will be pressing them very hard to give an early Christmas present to his buddy Vicente.

It is in our favor that this is an election year, and every member of the house is up for re-election. They will be less willing to cave if they understand that their constituency will give them the boot if they sell us out.

We need a Stop McCain Now movement. How can this guy be the frontrunner for 2008?

What difference does it make? We, the conservative republican base, have given the republican party control of both houses and the WH and they still bend to the whims of Kennedy and Reid? Anymore, if the WH race was between Kennedy and Bush, I would probably vote for Kennedy! At least I know what I am getting with that vote? If the republicans have a secret motive for voting they way they did in the Senate, they damn well better soon announce it! I am obviously not happy with our elected majority......

Byrd bucked his party line and voted no. Is that election-related?

Byrd has oddly enough been on the right side of the issue for quite a long time.

It's scary.
