That's about it. Said they should be sealed until the confusion is worked out.

Does anybody here really understand the house arument- are they saying the FBI can never search a congressman's office or that they didn't follow the correct procedure?

Yes, Byron says that Executive Branch officers would (and they did) forcibly seize and examine privileged documents from the Legislature.

As I pointed out, those minimalization procedures- while admirable- were not meant for a case like this and do not satisfy.

Of course it will go to the Supreme Court. There has never been such a case.

Is that because Hastert is not entirely clean?

I can think of no explanation other than that.

Then, IMO, you're not thinking.

Perhaps President Bush is not taking any chances of a Democrat walking on a legal technicality? As long as 'we' have the papers/docs...what's the problem with a 45 day lockbox?

It might be fun to get a SOB on film trying to pull a Sandy Burglar, wouldn't it?

They didn't notify the Speaker.

Bad precedent to set.

It's important to iron out the wrinkles of the confusion which is why Bush has put a seal on the documents...so they can sort out the procedures for the future.

HE is getting 10 times more vitriol than any of the Congressweinies..

Here's the thing, Tx...contrary to what you think, many of us have been stifling ourselves for a long, long time.

It was obvious before his first election that this man was weak and insubstantial...a man who has ridden his daddy's coattails all his life.

We voted for him because he was NOT Al Gore or John Kerry or even John McCain. We swallowed a lot. We didn't expect great leadership. But we did not expect to be kicked in the teeth by his imbecelic instincts gleaned from looking into people's eyes and from thinking sentimentally about his illegal nursemaid. Nor did we expect a parade of cornies like "Brownie" and Hariet insulating him from the real world.

So, yea, now that he has committed the ultimate sellout with his refusal to seriously address illegal immigration and, considering that his political time is constitutionally finished, yea, a lot of us no longer see any need to lick his boots. Or yours.

OK, that's not as upsetting -although I wonder what the procedure should be to investigate the speaker?

Thanks for the info

Does this whole affair remind people of a song that george Harrison wrote for the Beatles White album in 1968 ?

The Halls of congress is a pig farm with a lot of out of control farm hogs taking kickbacks and bribes from their Corporate masters.

Pig droppings all over the place and it stinks..........

CORRUPTION AND GRAFT INDEED ...............

ONE POLITICAL PARTY IS JUST AS BAD AS THE OTHER.

Have you seen the little piggies

Crawling in the dirt?
And for all the little piggies
Life is getting worse
Always having dirt to play around in

Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts?
You will find the bigger piggies
Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to play around in

In their styes with all their backing
They don't care what goes on around
In their eyes there's something lacking
What they need's a damn good whacking

Everywhere there's lots of piggies
Living piggy lives
You can see them out for dinner
With their piggy wives
Clutching forks and knives to eat their bacon

The Debate Clause protects all legitimate legislative records from questioning in any other place.

Without the right to even "question" where is the right to sieze? In a gun?

First a request for information. If he was uncooperative as Jefferson was, a search warrant delivered to him personally.

You may think the president is weak, but a lot of us think he has shown great strength in waging two wars, standing firm against the democrats with VERY little support from his fellow Republicans, and with relatively zero mainstream media support.

As to immigration, it is a 30 year problem and there hasn't been a single solitary president who has ever tried to do ANYTHING, so you'll just have to forgive those of us who think that although we'd like to see illegal immigration handled differently, maybe something is better than the nothing we've gotten from ALL presidents and Congress for 30 years.

President Bush does the right thing, it is just he is bad a marketing himself... he waits until all the democrats and arm chair quarterbacks tell the world what President Bush did and why, not what he actually did or why.

Being inarticulate and slow on your feet -- if that's all it is -- is not small failing in this dangerous and fast-moving world.

The WH is not a minor league position for talent development.

"Seizing and examining the unquestionably privileged documents the evidence was hidden in was NOT.

Are you saying he didn't wrap the $90,000 in TP and put it in the freezer? Lead me to a link where it says the $90,000 was wraped in privileged documents, Please.

I wouldn't call it 'inarticulate and slow on your feet' as you put it, instead I would call it not realizing the power of marketing and self promotion (or trying to be the anti-Clinton who got in front of the cameras for everything.)

You are right about the result though. Much of the job of President is being a figure head and this has been the main shortcoming of our President.

And some of them are tired of errors or the appearance of errors by the administration.

The bolded part speaks for itself...
