There are several main cities involved in protests over the past day or 2.: Tabriz And Tehran. The Tabrizi protests (in the N.W. of Iran) revolve around an offensive cartoon printed in a state-run paper, that insulted the Azeri Iranians. There were reports of the IRGC shooting demonstrators. There were many broken windows, and some fire. Dozens arrested, but no word yet on the number wounded or dead. The crowd in Tabriz was estimated at 10,000 people.
There is also another city being reported today as having bigger protest than the one in Tabriz , called Rezaiyeh, which is the capital of West Azerbaijan province in N.W. Iran, near the Turkish border. (no pictures yet)
Summer is always a time for increased demonstrations in Iran, and this summer is expected to be very active.
You think it's bad where you are--here in upstate WNY it's Gong Show vs Sabres hockey playoffs....on the local yokel media 24-7.
I just emailed Fox News about it. Let them know what I think about the "American Idol as earthbreaking news" crap, and sent a link to the Reuters article.
I am a journalist (smalltime) and it irks me to no end to see what passes for journalism these days.
Thanks,girlangler.
I sent one too.
These Iranian protestors do not hate us and do not blow things up, so no CNN play for them. The Iranians who want their freedom get their exposure in the blogs. Not that this will be that big a deal in a few years, seeing as how the MSM is rapidly collapsing anyway.
That's why people complain that the Iranian people aren't doing anything to win their freedom. If they never hear about it on CNN and the networks, how can they know what's going on?
this is were we come into the picture.
BUMP
Sizeable Protest inIran bump!
Yep, it's a shame. I mean hey, there's almost a revolution going on over there and the Western Media is quiet as if it's observing the annual symposium of janitors. I live in Azerbaijan (I mean the independent one)and though our TV mostly sucks (well, the government seems somewhat afraid of Iran and I can't really blame it), local newspapers and online news sites are all over it. More than 20 people are reported to be shot by the police, many more wounded and held captive. I've already lauched an online campaign to break this silence barrier and ask Western Media to report something after all. Let's see if it works. Meanwhile, here are some links with news and photos:
