WASHINGTON - Two top CIA officials will bolster prosecutors' charge that Vice President Cheney's chief aide lied to them, court papers show. Prosecutors say disgraced Cheney chief of staff Lewis (Scooter) Libby learned CIA spy Valerie Plame's identity from, among others, agency officials who will be called to testify at his trial for perjury, false statements and obstruction of justice.
The U.S. alleges he learned about Plame from one of the CIA officials when he went after dirt on her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson. Wilson shattered a pillar of President Bush's rationale for war - that Iraq was seeking to build a nuclear weapon.

Did they also mention that Rove is indicted? /sarc
Man, this CIA is chock full of leftist, scumbag political operatives.
One of the biggest mistakes this administration has made is not cleaning house from square one on day one.
Nah. It's what you call "literary license" by Mr. Meek. If Libby's acquitted the Post will publish a retraction, and there ever after will refer to Scooter as "the formerly disgraced Cheney Chief of Staff..."
Wilson shattered a pillar of President Bush's rationale for war - that Iraq was seeking to build a nuclear weapon.
No he didnt. Iraq was seeking to build a nuclear weapon. That much has been established beyond doubt.
Libby has said journalists told him about Plame - not Cheney or the six witnesses named so far by prosecutors
But subsequent documents allege Libby asked top CIA official Robert Grenier on June 11 why the agency sent Wilson to Niger to see if Iraq tried to buy uranium. Grenier replied that Plame was an agent and "believed responsible" for arranging her husband's trip.
The other official was Craig Schmall, a CIA briefer whom Libby complained to about the Wilson trip on June 14, court files allege.
Pretty weak tea. If disgraced Cheney chief of staff Lewis (Scooter) Libby (thats unbiased news reportage there, folks) learned about Plame from a journalist prior to June 11th, the last little bit of Fitzmas coal is going to disappear from the stocking.
Sunday Times, February 12, 2006: CIA chief sacked for opposing torture
Excerpt of interest:
Porter Goss, who was appointed head of the CIA in August 2004 with a mission to clean house, has been angered by a series of leaks from CIA insiders, including revelations about black sites in Europe where top Al-Qaeda detainees were said to have been held.
In last Fridays New York Times, Goss wrote that leakers within the CIA were damaging the agencys ability to fight terrorism and causing foreign intelligence organisations to lose confidence. Too many of my counterparts from other countries have told me, You Americans cant keep a secret.
Goss is believed to have blamed Grenier for allowing leaks to occur on his watch.
Since the appointment of Goss, the CIA has lost almost all its high-level directors amid considerable turmoil.
AB Buzzy Krongard, a former executive director of the CIA who resigned shortly after Gosss arrival, said the leaks were unlikely to stop soon, despite proposals to subject officers to more lie detector tests.
Krongard said it was up to President George Bush to stop the rot. The agency has only one client: the president of the United States, he said. The reorganisation is the way this president wanted it. If he is unwilling to reform it, the agency will go on as it is.
Sounds like Mr Grenier has issues with the adminstration. The comment from Mr Krongard sounds like there was a mutiny in the CIA - and that is probably true. So where are the gallows, the planks and the ropes for keelhauling - the only proper way to handle a mutiny.
The identify of these two CIA agents was revealed weeks ago in a pre-trial hearing (IOW, it is NOT new news). Furthermore, the testimony of the CIA agents will demonstrate that the LIAR here is indeed Joe Wilson; with the agent stating that it was Wilson's wife who sent him to Niger, not the VEEP. Fitzy's case is falling apart quickly; now when will the judge dismiss all charges and throw the persecutor in jail for misconduct?
Good. Are they going to testify they leaked Plames earlier?
re: Robert Grenier
Is this any relation:
[wife, daughter, mistress????] :^)

Ray McGovern... and his mother.
LOL!
:)
Personally I wouldn't believe any evidence given by a member of the CIA. One of the things a CIA agent has to be extremely convincing at, especially when undercover, is lying just to stay alive.
Thanks.
Ira Lewis Libby is a snake. It is his ilk that has in part damaged the current administrations reputation.
The New York Daily News is a liberal tabloid. The Post is my New York paper of choice (though I rarely buy that anymore since Murdoch got sweet on Hillary).
CIA Employee: I was hired on Oct 31, 2000, just after having graduated from Harvard with a degree in Political Science.
Defence Attorney: What clubs did you happen to belong to at Harvard? CIA Employee: Crew, and the Young Democrats.
Defense Attorney: And do you support the Democrat party financially or otherwise? CIA Employee: Actually I was employed by the Gore campaign for the election of 2000, and it just so happened that after a committee meeting in which I was lucky enough to meet President Clinton, I was notified of my recruitment to the Agency to which I had applied several months earlier.
Defense Attorney; Did you at any time after being hired make any financial contributions to the Democrat Party?
CIA Employee: Well I did also work for the Clinton Campaign earlier but it wasn't until I started working at the Agency that I began to donate funds , say about $10,000 dollars per year to the DNC.
( Get The Picture? )
It is hard to tell the difference these days.
Whatever happened to being innocent before being proven guilty?
This is an opinion piece, not a news story.....right?
That's as far as I got.
