WASHINGTON - Two top CIA officials will bolster prosecutors' charge that Vice President Cheney's chief aide lied to them, court papers show. Prosecutors say disgraced Cheney chief of staff Lewis (Scooter) Libby learned CIA spy Valerie Plame's identity from, among others, agency officials who will be called to testify at his trial for perjury, false statements and obstruction of justice.
The U.S. alleges he learned about Plame from one of the CIA officials when he went after dirt on her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson. Wilson shattered a pillar of President Bush's rationale for war - that Iraq was seeking to build a nuclear weapon.

How important is this to the case? Does this mean Russert is a liar as well?

Someone needs to read the indicment, it explicitly says he was trying to correct the mistatements in the press that wilson was sent at Cheney's request, not for political revenge. But hey, why let facts get in the way of "news."

"Wilson shattered a pillar of President Bush's rationale for war - that Iraq was seeking to build a nuclear weapon." And a bi-partisan Senate committee shattered Wilson, but hey, why repor that in the "news."

Gee, Libby's defense lawyers are denied CIA reports and briefings so Prosecutor not only is going to use it at trial, NEXT YEAR, but makes sure it's in the public record in advance to taint the jury.

The CIA officials testifying is what caught my attention. The Daily News is left of the NYT, but what implications will this testimony have in the case against Libby?

Note it does not say "former" or "retired" CIA agents. Probably friends of McCarthy.

My money says that, if two CIA officers intend to testify against Libby, that one of them will be Mary O. McCarthy and the other will be a "fellow traveler." Whomever it is should be investigated right along with the traitor McCarthy.

Why are the CIA Agents, who revealed the identity of Plume not indicted? (Because they are Clinton holdover democrats)

I can't answer your question- but here was my first reaction- and it's a pretty startling one for me-
"And I'm supposed to trust the word of someone in the CIA"??

"But subsequent documents allege Libby asked top CIA official Robert Grenier on June 11 why the agency sent Wilson to Niger to see if Iraq tried to buy uranium. Grenier replied that Plame was an agent and "believed responsible" for arranging her husband's trip.
The other official was Craig Schmall, a CIA briefer whom Libby complained to about the Wilson trip on June 14, court files allege."
Plame, Valerie Wilson or Wilson's wife is the differences. He may have very well learned Plame's name from Russert where before he only knew her as Wilson's wife?
