Excellent article, goes down the list of vulnerable Republicans.

People better re-think the "lst the Dems win" strategy.

I plan on GOP voting this year despite my difficulties with them. The alternative is a nightmare

I saw an interesting turn of phrase on another thread. The poster was feed up with the political maneuvering and posturing in recent days, so in protest they said they were going to actively work to teach a lesson...by doing everything they could to see that Tancredo got defeated as soon as possible.

I guess they just got tired of the spoilers and decided to turn the tables on them. Interesting idea.

When Republicans govern like conservatives, they win. When they govern like liberals, they lose. I have a hard time understanding why this is so difficult to understand.

I will never vote Dim. But perhaps a GOP loss in one of the two houses may be a silver lining for '08.

If you have a real Conservative Republican to vote for, why wouldn't you?

The question is, do you have a real Conservative Republican to vote for?

Good article, Geraghty's got it right. If the Dems get established in the majority it won't be easy to take it back.

I sure hope so. The key is to win the primaries with conservative candidates. In fact, we need more conservatives than ever to get out there and vote, or we'll lose even more ground.

President Bush draws a lot of fire from some FReepers, including myself. However, we shouldn't feel guilty. A choice needed to be made, and we picked the best one we could get. And, in fact, he's done far more for us conservatives than a Gore presidency ever would have done.

I'm not saying we should be satisfied with RINOs! By no means! If a better, conservative candidate is available, support them. Just be prepared to fight against the RNC, because it invariably backs the moderates. Take a case in point, Chafee vs. Laffey (http://www.electlaffey.com/site/index.php). Who do you think the RNC is backing? Anyone wanna take a guess on who Bush will back? Just think Specter and cringe!

There is no "strategy" here, there is acute disappointment. Instead of telling Joe Sixpack he has no right to his disappointment, why the heck can't the President enforce the law? Just do it. It's in his power. Not only can he do what he claims he "can't" do, but he's been spending valuable energy for years working against Joe's interests.

He's opened the US highways to Mexican truckers--that took several years of Bush's hard work. Why did Bush work so hard to take US trucker jobs away from US truckers? Why? Just someone, explain. It's not like Bush didn't have other things to do.

We watched his limp effort to reform SSecurity. But you didn't see his tough and energetic effort to have SS benefits sents to Mexicans in Mexico. Why? Doesn't he have enough to keep him busy? Isn't there enough US money flowing to Mexico from the envios dinero stores that are popping up on every street corner?

It's the Joe Sixpacks who produce the sons who serve in the military, it isn't the children of neocons who do this job. Bush has broken faith with the middle-class conservative citizen that has provided the support for the WOT. He has undermined his base that supported the War in Iraq. He has told us that he can't enforce the law, but somehow he can turn a savage group of tribes committed to a death cult into a peaceful democracy. Which does Joe Sixpack believe?

Fred Barnes already did his enraging, patronizing bit to threaten Joe with the blame--this is an intimidation strategy to promote this ghastly and incomprehensible immigration bill. And Joe wisely suspect it has something to do with Fred's enjoyment of cheap yard help at the expense of the neighbor who used to do an honest landscaping business.

Joe won't "strategize"--he'll just stay at home. Bush could do something about it. He could turn it around right away. But for some reason, it's "talk to the hand" when his base pleads with him to see reason. For years, I've just wanted to know...why?

If Ted Kennedy changes his party affiliation to Republican, would it be alright not to vote for him?

Silly article that claims that conservatives wouldn't vote for conservatives...that's a strawman. The idea is for conservatives not to vote for liberals, even if they're Republican. the conservatives should be rewarded.

What’s really stunning is this absolute certainty of angry conservatives that A) Republicans will learn the right lessons from the defeat

There is a huge number of liberals posing as conservatives feeding this suicidal mentality.

They also are talking up the 2008 elections when we haven't even gotten to the 2006 (trying to get us to look past the midterm elections). They are mostly the ones touting the phony MSM polls

I think most of us can pretty well pick them out of the group.

why would Republicans get the message that “we need to be more conservative honest

I'd settle for the answer to just one question. To wit, given that the SSA sends out employer "no match" letters and employee "no match" letters to about 130,000 of the most egregious employers of ILLEGAL aliens and about 9.5 million likely ILLEGAL alien employees, respectively -- why don't you do something, Mr. President? We know who they are.

Even if I don't like the answer an honest and complete answer will sure get my vote. IS THAT ASKING TOO MUCH?!!

Not only that, but whatever happened to notifying your sitting RINO that you are voting for his Republican primary opponent because of his moderate-left stand? Let them know that if they do win the party's nod to run against the dem candidate, they'd better do a better showing the next term or their next Republican opponent will succeed. Staying home only helps the dems.

Another " Come on charlie Brown, I won't move the football this time" articles. I have voted every election since I could vote for Reagan in 84. NEVER missed one. Supported financially, physically everything. At some point, you have to ask yourself these questions....

Have the republicans been good stewards of the power they were given?

If yes did we get the planks that control of the Senate, House and presidency would require?

That then leads to the question.... If you were going to be used politically by someone would it look like what is going on right now?

Here's reality: The GOP is growing more liberal and spineless by the day. We can go along with it. Or not. But one thing's certain: No meaningful change will occur without someone being willing to vote their principles instead of continuing to support the lesser of two evils. If there had not been people willing to risk that pain in centuries past, we'd still have the original parties we started with.

To continue to support those who no longer represent our values is itself a vote for increased liberalism, just on a slower growth track.

All we have to do is vote for conservatives. If these conservatives wear the Republican, Democrat, or Constitutionalist party label, so be it.

Just vote conservative. Don't waste your vote on a RINO. If no conservatives run in that election, don't vote. Otherwise, you're just encouraging the RINO.

The "let the Dems win sentiment" is foolish but is a sign that the Bush administration and Congress have squandered their moral authority with the GOP base. Many rank and file Republicans want to punish their leaders for being faithless to the party's declared principles.

More than a few straying husbands have arrived home late with lipstick on the collar once too often to find a formerly meek wife waiting up and armed with anything from tears, to packed bags, to a loaded shotgun. Bill Clinton talked his way out of that kind of problem more than a few times, but Bush, Rove, and most Republicans are so cloddish they are likely to blow it.

Worst of all, Bush's immigration policies are so bad as to be very nearly a political death wish, like telling an angry spouse with a shotgun that she is never going to pull the trigger. The saving grace may be that Republican House conservatives block the Bush immigration plan and rally the base, for the sake of their own reelections if nothing else.
