Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo. |
WASHINGTON Two years ago, he was as lonely as the Maytag repairman an obscure congressman trying desperately to raise the visibility of an issue he believed threatened the very security of the U.S.
More recently, he has become a force to be reckoned with, the leader of a powerful House caucus, a Republican who has taken on the president, a man respected for outspoken positions and the political force behind what has become the hottest issue in the nation.
Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus and the undisputed heavyweight champion of the border security issue in the nation's capital, now tells the whole story of the threats facing the nation, the solutions within its grasp and his own personal quest to awaken the political establishment to the seething discontentment gripping America as a result of illegal immigration.
In his new book, "In Mortal Danger," published by WND Books, Tancredo warns that the country is on a course to the dustbin of history. Like the great and mighty empires of the past, he writes, superpowers that once stretched from horizon to horizon, America is heading down the road to ruin.
English historian Edward Gibbon, in penning his classic "The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire" (ironically published in the year America's Founding Fathers declared independence from Great Britain), theorized that Rome fell because it rotted from within. It succumbed to barbarian invasions because of a loss of civic virtue, its citizens became lazy and soft, hiring barbarian mercenaries to defend the empire because they were unwilling to defend it themselves.
Tancredo says America is following in the tragic footsteps of Rome.
Living up to his reputation for candor, Tancredo explains how the economic success and historical military prowess of the United States has transformed a nation founded on Judeo-Christian principles of right and wrong into an overindulgent, self-deprecating, immoral cesspool of depravity.
His recipe for turning things around?
Without strong, moral leadership, without a renewed sense of purpose, without a rededication to family and community, without shunning the race hustlers and pop-culture sham artists, without protecting borders, language and culture, the nation that once was "the land of the free and home of the brave" and the "one last best hope of mankind" will repeat the catastrophic mistakes of the past, he writes.
Tancredo, born and raised in Colorado, represents Colorado's 6th district in the U.S. House of Representatives. Prior to his election to Congress in 1998, Tancredo worked as a schoolteacher, was elected to the Colorado State House of Representatives in 1976, was appointed by President Reagan as the secretary of education's regional representative in 1981, and served as president of the Independence Institute. He serves on the International Relations Committee, the Resources Committee and the Budget Committee, and is the chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus. Tancredo and his wife, Jackie, reside in Littleton, Colo.
That's interference in ministry. The Catholic Church will not cooperate in that.
In fact, I doubt many clergymen will acquiesce to becoming policemen.
I've watched both Tom Tancredo and Pat Buchanan for years. I've attended their speeches and met both of them personally. They are both highly intelligent, conservative men. They have also both been accuse of hate. I've seen none of that from either of them. The hate that I have seen seems to surround them as their enemies, seething with irrational hate, attack and smear them.
I attended one rally which featured a speech by Pat Buchanan about 10 years ago. My local city park's amphitheater was packed to hear Buchanan. His speech was well delivered and spot on, as usual. But the thing that was reported on the news that night was all of the screaming leftists who showed up to accuse him of being a nazi, KKK, and all of that garbage. They screamed and howled and paraded their lunatic hate around the event.
Tom Tancredo spoke in Tombstone at the opening event of the Minuteman Project. Surrounding the building where the event was held was a parade of screaming, pot-banging, whistle-blowing, howling, shoving leftists trying to drown out Rep. Tom Tancredo with their limitless hate.
I've seen this with my own eyes. And I see it here, on Free Republic, nearly every day, from the same hatemongers who attack and smear these two conservative men. I hear the same lies, see the same attacks, and witness the same irrational hatred that comes from these leftists.
If the Tancredo Trashers were capable of shame, they would be ashamed for abusing this website to pollute every thread the merely mentions Tom Tancredo with their hate and lies.
A gentlemens bet sure.
whats a obl
And very very democrat.. i.e. traitors and/or allies to the French..
"I'd support Guliani over the "nuke Mecca kid" Tancredo."
Why...I bet you hate Tancredo so much you would even go and vote for Hillary to avoid voting for him.
Sure. Tancredo opened his mouth, and inserted foot.
He allowed himself to get manuevered into a situation in which he would advocate using a nuclear weapon against the prime religious symbol of over a billion people.
Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Like no other conservative Republicans have ever authored or "pushed" a book... Give it up.
He was one of the main leaders of the protests in favor of rewarding criminal invaders of my country with "rights."
In another time, people like him were dealt with harshly.
Its a plea deal not amnesty the words are not interchangeable. I think plea deal sells. I explained it that way to someone today and they changed their mind. Perhaps It will get picked up by Snow(Your Welcome if your watching)
It is everyone's job to inform law enforcment about law breaking. When more people get that thru their heads we will all be better off. Unless of course you are against the rule of law and the enforcement of it.
W asked for that very thing after 911 now didn't he?
I guess maybe you consider church above the rule of law?
I do not back prosecuting them for services they grant when they call ICE and report them as the illegals they are. Now if they are aiding them so they do not get caught, sure punish them.
And you can call a duck a frog or a turtle or a largemouth bass or even a freaking kangaroo, but if it quacks and has feathers, it's still a duck.
So, you're happy with the current Ted Kennedy designed immigration policies which, in 1965, threw out all inteligence, reason and logic and just opened the floodgates? Wouldn't you prefer a more conservative immigration policy that puts Americans first?
Savage would make an excellent armed press secretary..
Okay, so he supports the WOT and sovereignty for the USA. Anything else you hate about him?
You, on the other hand, have become an irrelevant, shrill, bombastic noise.
So then the church is above the law eh? How very interesting. How does obstruction of justice sound to ya?
When Catholics weren't the majority denomination, that's true.
Arresting clergy is never a good thing for public relations.
Another in a long string of lies attacking conservative Republican Tom Tancredo who enjoys a nearly unparalleled conservative voting record in Congress.
