Gay sex trysts in 'bookstores and rest stops'
(New York-WABC, May 21, 2006) - It was the announcement that caught the attention of the nation. Jim McGreevey, Governor of New Jersey, husband, and father, telling the world he was gay and involved in an extra marital affair with a man. 21 months later, the former governor is going public again with a book titled "The Confession."
This is a tell-all book in every sense of the word. Former Governor Jim McGreevey doesn't appear to hold anything back. In the book, he writes about his life as a gay man in power and how he lied to everyone. The book comes out in September. The publisher just released 16-pages of excerpts.
"The truth is that I am a gay American," said former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey in August of 2004.
It was a personal truth aired in public. Now, McGreevey goes even further. In his new book, "The Confession", McGreevey speaks about meeting anonymous men at rest stops for sexual trysts. "As the years went on," McGreevey writes, "I became as avid a womanizer as anybody else on the New Jersey political scene, but my attraction was largely artificial. My sexual performance a triumph of mind over matter."
This is a tell-all book in every sense of the word. Former Governor Jim McGreevey doesn't appear to hold anything back. In the book, he writes about his life as a gay man in power and how he lied to everyone. The book comes out in September. The publisher released 16-pages of excerpts at a book expo in Washington D.C. Saturday. McGreevey made his first public appearance since the summer of 2004 at the expo.
McGreevey writes, "As glorious and meaningful as it would have been to have a loving and sound sexual relationship with another man, I knew I'd have to undo my happiness step by step as I began chasing my dream of a public career and the kind of 'acceptable' life that went with it. So instead, I settled for the detached anonymity of bookstores and rest stops. A compromise, but one that was wholly unfulfilling and morally unsatisfactory."
In the excerpts, McGreevey doesn't say when the encounters started. Nor does he mention his two marriages to women. He comes off as a man in great pain, in great conflict. "I knew I would have to lie for the rest of my life, and I knew I was capable of it," he writes. "The knowledge gave me a feeling of terrible power."
McGreevey will get $500,000 for writing the book and he's already a scheduled guest on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" for his first interview since the announcement. That interview will air next fall during Oprah Winfrey's new season right here on Channel 7.
BARF.
For some reason, I just don't think this tome has the staying power or inspiration of St. Augustine's "Confessions"
Well the big difference is St. Augustine REPENTED! This (can I say a$$ clown?) guy just wants to rationalize. I am so glad I am not a man in need of a bathroom on the highways of New Jersey. I have a tendency to smile at people all the time, I think that could mean big trouble in the Garden State. Or is North Dakota the Garden State?
It's a wonder his ex-wife hasn't scalped him.
Excellent point, and one that the gays and their straight pals always seem to not want to discuss.
Merely parlaying the profits of fashion; there has never been a better time to be gay than now and what better way to cash in than to play to the panderers of prurience?
When the market cools down, he may decide to re-board the train and take the return trip in a fit of puritanic epiphany.
Ex-WIVES. He was living a lie twice.
Lucky he has not spread the Virus.
Truth is, the guy is a major perv. Period.
"It's a wonder his ex-wife hasn't scalped him."
Here are some reasons she hasn't had to:
1. Her divorce lawyer scalps 'em all over for a living, and is good at it.
2. Have you checked the price of arm length rubber gloves lately?
I expect he will be using the profits from this book to pay back the taxpayers for everything he spent indulging his secret life while he was in office.
We should be grateful to this scumbag -- he is exposing, yet again, the depraved heart and soul of the Demagogic Party. Gay issues aside, what should one think of a purely heterosexual politician who boasts that he cheated on everyone in his life, lied to everyone in sight, had random stranger sex in rest stops, etc.
Oh, wait, I forgot that it won't make any difference.... if anything, he and his kind will be held up by the Oprah culture as heroes of truth-telling. Maybe Teddy the Swimmer can arrange for McGreevey to receive the "Profile in Courage" award given to brave Demagogic politicians.......
Lacking any biological or legal corroboration, what else is left but public affirmation?
(To the tune of "Ghost Riders In The Sky)
An old cowpoke went cruisin' on one warm and special day
And at the restop were some men he couldn't tell were gay
And all at once he thought he heard a redneck cattle call,
Then two big sissies grabbed him up, and nailed him to the wall
Yippieeayeaaaa! Yippieayeoooooh! Fudgepackers in disguise!
Their trucks were haulin' Hershey Bars, their boots had toes of steel
His hiene was on fire and their hot breath he could feel!
It goes to show the cover of a book you cannot judge
'Cause who'd have thought these macho dudes
Were into packin' fudge!
Yippieeayeaaaa! Yippieayeoooooh! Fudgepackers in disguise!
Is there no depth to which NJ politics will descend?
Disgusting! What does he want besides people buying his book to make him a millionaire because he's queer. I don't feel sorry for him. He made his choice. He can live with it. However, I won't be stopping at any NJ rest stops.
This homosexual piece of crap was out having sex with strangers while married to 2 different women and having children with them? How about giving them diseases? How about being an honest human being instead of a weak chunk of garbage. Anyone having sex with strangers at truck stops
and also engaging in sex with a spouse is not worth anything. His promiscuity makes good reading for his children when they get older. He still doesn't get it. Dumping his soul out to the public is nothing but Little Jimmy trolling for more. He should get lost.
One if you want it; haven't had time to read it. Sneaking onto FR when no one is looking...
