Much of the dissatisfaction with the Republicans is due to them not being conservative enough. Democrats do not provide a conservative alternative, so when push comes to shove people aren't going to turn to the Dems.

J F'n Kerry tried that early in his campaign. I remember that he was presenting himself as the candidate for those that didn't feel Bush was conservative enough. J F'n Kerry a conservative alternative? Are you kidding me?

I am confident we will keep both the House and Senate. All of these elections are local, and "generic" ballot preferences are worthless. You vote for a person not a generic effigy. And people have intangible strengths and weaknesses, unlike generic people.

Plus the polls are pure crap.

In the Senate it will range from -2 to +2 for the GOP.

And in the House, we might lose up to 8.

The Democrats have no vision, no ideas, and are unfit to lead. There entire persona at the moment is feverish obstruction.

And my prediction, now some six months old, is TWO Republican GAINS in the Senate, one to five in the House.

They need to be losing seats. These Democrats are more pathetic than Republicans. Any person with half a brain can tell they are absolutely morally and philosophically bankrupt.

I wouldn't want they any where near being responsible for my security. They love the terrorists more than they love their country.

Besides the Contract With America, there were two other things that drove the 1994 takeover. One was the Hillarycare takeover of health care and the need for somebody to stand in its way.

I think that there was another significant legislative item: I think that the Democrats' wholesale assault on the RKBA in 1993-1994 also drove our 1994 victory.

It's one compelling reason that I never want to see the Democrats controlling any part of our government. I believe that the Democratic Party will again attempt to destroy our right to keep and bear arms if they are in charge, and they will even have some RINO collaborators, such as Mayor Bloomberg.

The Democrats still really really suck and their funds prove it.

Democrats suck far more than Republicans. Republicans are going to have to try far harder to catch up with Democrats.

**It really is the Republicans' to lose**

Well said......

Dems are in the midst of a Party Civil war, are fractured, and no one seems to be in control....

Dean is wasting MILLIONS of Dem money on his Socialist failures, like 30 Soldiers, or beating Nagin, while Hillary sucks up what cash is left from Dem 2006 Candidates...

Dems are running from gays now, and recruiting illegal voters, while the leftist wing keeps making them look like dumbasses....

They have NO PLAN, no IDEAS to offer America other than "We Aren't Bush", and the Clinton Disaster is recent enough that many of us REMEMBER it.......

They can't run on an Agenda, because America wouldn't vote for them, and thier splintered groups wuld run, if they actually told us WHAT they stand for......

Cut-N-Run, Surrender-First, hate America, Hate the Family, Christians as a "Hate-Group", Pro-Death BS is NOT going to win elections.....

The rat has no chance. These are the reasons I have identified so far.

1)Self identification of Americans as conservatives
2)Florida Demographics
3)The war in Iraq - just not going bad
4)Big Labor’s pull back will be a BIG problem
5)Howard Dean
6)Voter fraud- coming to a slow but sure end
7)Democrat calls for impeachment -putting election in new light
8)Old media loses its power 3
9)Blacks are slowly leaving the Democrats we should break 15% this cycle
10)Democrats have come to rely on liars who give them phony poll information 29% support for W- really?
11) Redistricting makes the numbers impossible
12) Doom and gloom, rooting the terrorists, doesn’t sell very well
13) Scandals can get you just so far Mollohan et al
14) America knows and understands the Democrats stand for
15) Evangelicals are in the game to stay
16) Banning guns still won’t win elections
17) Cindy Sheehan is the crazy cat woman from the Simpson’s
18) Queers (that’s their word not mine) marrying? No thanks.
19) The candidate Gap- they don't have enough top shelfers
20) The message Gap- name their position on anything
21) The money Gap 5:1
22) The Economy is now in the best shape it has been in our lifetime - please don't think voters don't know this
23) The meaning of Bush’s improved voter numbers in 04 Kilgore and Forrester found out about betting against Bush
24) The Clinton magic is over- his endorsement means ZERO
25) The movie “Flight 93”- reminds us of 911
26) The never ending millstones around their neck gays women unions etc.
27) Generic poll foolishness - early lies lead to rat losses
28) Naming the vulnerable Democrats- I've got six so far
29) What about the military Democrats, the bunch the call the Band of Brothers?- fading fast
30) The stark lack of enthusiasm among the Democrat rank and file - as per Zogby poll
31) Am I just a Republican cheerleader engaging in wishful thinking? - Cook & Rothenberg KNOW the truth
32) Ballot Initiatives will choke the Democrats in important races - running under the radar
33) The Castle Doctrine - ditto
34) Abortion is back as an important issue- ditto
35) Immigration - GOP rank&file will push our guys right
36) The power of incumbency
37) Democrat’s have no understanding of who America’s enemies are - corporations and religion
38) Democrats hyperbole “We shall overcome”? No “We shall over do!” - as they believe more they will talk more works for us all the times
39) The values gap - "injecting God into politics"????
40) Legislative “poison pill” bills - coming soon
41) The crashing and burning of “liberal alternative media” - ERR America
42) The Democrat’s “Roman Catholic” problem - will grow not fade as time goes by, abortion and rat congressmen's phony proclamation.
We pick up 4 to 6 in the House and 1 or 2 in the Senate

After the 2010 Census, the trends continue in the GOP's favor. From WSJ 2005 based on 2010 projections:

Blue States gaining EV's: California (+1)
Blue States losing EV's: Illinois(-1), Massachusetts (-1), New York (-2), Pennsylvania (-1)

Red States losing EV's: Alabama (-1), Iowa (-1), Missouri(-1), Ohio (-2)
Red States gaining EV's: Arizona (+1), Florida(+2), Georgia (+1), Nevada (+1), Texas(+3), Utah(+1)

Net Republican EV gain: +4

It will only get worse for the blue states relative to the red states as time goes on. But the news gets worse. The above states will all necessarily be redistricted after the 2010 census. Redistricting
is most often done by the state legislature with a gubernatorial veto. Of the states that will be redistricted:

States where Democrats control the Governorship and both houses of the state legislature:
Illinois
2010 projected Congressional seats: 18

States where Republicans
control the Governorship and both houses of the state legislature:
Texas, Florida, Georgia, Utah, Ohio, Missouri
2010 projected Congressional seats: 35 + 27 + 14 + 4 + 16 + 8 = 104

The opposing party should be expected to lose at least one seat in each of these states where one party controls all the levers. Bad news for Democrats. But wait! It still gets worse! Democrats will lose an additional seat for sure in Massachusetts, despite having veto-overriding supermajorities in both houses of the state legislature. Massachusetts has an all-Democratic delegation, so at least one Democrat is guaranteed to lose their seat there.

"A Warner/Bayh ticket would be unbeatable IMHO, however I only think that's going to happen if the Dems get their asses handed to them this year."

The way I look at it, Hillary on the ticket brings nothing new to the table. She won't win a red state which means she won't win the Presidency.

The RATS need new blood from a red state to compete in 08. My pick is Warner/Richardson.

"...dissatisfaction with Republicans has not turned into support for Democrats."

It won't have to if Pubbies stay home on election day to "send a message". I'll vote GOP just to see Nancy Pelosi's, John Conyer's and Harry Reid's faces the morning after the election when they are still the minority party.

Good article. Good to hear some encouraging news for a change.

My sentiments exactly. That's why we must pray that Hillary get the nomination or that there is a blood bath in the Dem primaries that splits the party into 15 different factions; especially the Clintonistas and the Kerry/Kennedy factions.

This is front page stuff in Philadelphia. Hope they keep it up. The rest of the state (minus Pburgh) will get rattled.

Unfortunately, I agree...hopefully the D's are too stupid or as you say will get too cocky to figure that out.
