PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President and Mrs. Bush attended St. John's this morning, and GWB went for a mountain bike ride. The first couple also made a brief television appearance to congratulate the new Iraqi government. Here are the President's brief remarks:

THE PRESIDENT: The formation of a unity government in Iraq is a new day for the millions of Iraqis who want to live in freedom. And the formation of the unity government in Iraq begins a new chapter in our relationship with Iraq.

This morning, I called the President, the Prime Minister and the Speaker to congratulate them on working together to form the unity government. I assured them that the United States will continue to assist the Iraqis in the formation of a free country, because I fully understand that a free Iraq will be an important ally in the war on terror, will serve as a devastating defeat for the terrorists and al Qaeda, and will serve as an example for others in the region who desire to be free.

I just thought it was a funny, natural sort of photo of a man of his age how he would look after a vigorous bike ride.

Also it was good to see him with the President I think 2 weekend's running showing that they have kept their personal relationship regardless of the fact he no longer works for the administration.

The black suit with a solid color tailored silk blouse with its lapels overlapping the lapels of the suit is practically a Hillary trademark. I guess this thread is Hillary free, but on many FR threads the "suit" is a common comment. A female lawyer who was on the 9-11 Commission, and who should have been a witness TO the 9-11 commission, Jamie Gorelick, wore the same look every day. It is a look that is meant to convey tailored female (feminist) power, and is associated in my mother's, and my mind with women that we do not like.

Laura's suit looks like a nice banker's grey stripe. It was the combo with the collar that got to my mother.

Eat your evil heart out, Hitlery. Look at Laura's lovely, slender thighs.

LOL! There is no comparison in how the two women look in their suits. Laura wears her clothes so well.

I always think of the combo with the collar whether it be trousers or a skirt as the traditional office wear or going back to my mother and grandmother's day the classic "costume", never called a suit - men wear suits :0).

I understand where you are coming from re Hilliary but somehow I feel that what was always considered the tailored classic look because of Hilliary is no longer thought of as such. A shame really a bit like we can no longer use the word gay in its true meaning.

Many years ago my school uniform actually was a white blouse with the collar over the collar of our blazer. We got demerits from the nuns if our collar was not in the right place. Of course, we thought it looked stupid, so as soon as we were off campus we put the blouse collar under the blazer.

My (ninety-year-old) mother has such a visceral dislike of Hillary that she pinches out any rendition of her that shows up in our local paper. I think that is why she remarked to me her disappointment with Laura's costume. I had seen Laura and W on TV and did not even notice that she was wearing a business costume. I guess I just looked at her beautiful face as she gazed at her husband.

My nan (grandmother) would not dream of going anyway formal without wearing a "costume" I often find it quite amazing and interesting how over the years tastes and views change so dramatically.

Often this happens because a style or event is associated with someone or something that have bad vibes or morals such as the case of Hilliary.

I could tell that from your posts and the posts to you. I elected to leave the thread instead of engaging them. I must admit, for anonymous posters, their lofty claims of knowledge fall on deaf ears.

Thanks, Onyx. You've helped me feel better. :)
