Anyone still wondering how the humble man from Midland managed to do in the last election what no White House candidate had been able to do in 16 years -- win a majority of the popular vote -- Tuesday night's Oval Office address will have resolved any lingering confusion.

It's easy to see why this unpretentious, plain-speaking fella drives Democrats up the wall. With the MSM almost daily trotting out yet another "poll" which curiously always has Bush hitting a "new low" -- the "low ratings" magically achieved by having Democrats and liberal-leaning "independents" represented in disproportionately large numbers in the "randomly" selected sample -- the prevailing myth among the all-knowing Commentariat is that Bush in his speech was attempting to stem his hemorrhaging popularity and to mend fences with his 'alienated' base which is miffed over his stance on immigration.

Since the earliest days of his 2000 presidential campaign, Bush had run on his proposal for a temporary 'guest-worker' program, had delivered dozens of speeches advocating a temporary 'guest-worker' program, appealed to Hispanic voters in '04 by advocating a temporary 'guest-worker' program, but we're supposed to believe his conservative base -- which had voted for him overwhelmingly in 2000 and 2004 -- had not known his stance on immigration until this year (Bush just broke the news to his base!) and is now smoldering angry at him for fulfilling yet another campaign promise.

Paraphrasing the media headlines in the days and hours before his speech: Bush under fire. Bush in trouble. Bush under pressure. Bush careening to disaster. Bush in trouble. Bush's goose is cooked. Bush all but finished. Bush in trouble. Bush speech last-ditch effort to save his bacon. Stick a fork in his bacon, it's done.

Against this friendly cacophony of gloom-and-doomery from his girly men critics in the lead-up to his televised address, Bush appeared poised, self-assured, upbeat. To the media, shooting spitballs from the peanut gallery, it was important during this lead-up that the public perceive Bush as a much diminished figure, politically adrift, frail and fatigued, but that Bush was a no-show Tuesday night.

If Bush's gutsy speech was somehow a desperate, headlong rush to shore up "sagging" approval ratings, you'd never know it from his calm and assertive, cool and unruffled manner of delivery. It was vintage Bush.

For a politician ostensibly sliding irreversibly into oblivion, not bad. The unflappable, take-charge air about him was difficult to square with the media depiction of Bush as aimless, disconnected -- if not out-and-out political roadkill. Bush was forceful yet graceful, emphatic yet dignified, self-assured yet down-to-earth.

Judging from the fawning reaction, Bush hit a home-run. The New York Times, part of the open-borders fringe of the debate, lovingly wrote that the speech "was a victory for the fear-stricken fringe of the debate." Bush "last night specifically -- and shamefully -- urged that the (path to seek citizenship) be denied to temporary workers." The hate-Bush pitch-forkers: 'Impeach Jorge Arbusto for not enforcing our laws!' The hate-Bush anti-pitch-forkers: 'Impeach Bu$Hitler for enforcing our laws!'

As part of his secret plot to sponsor an invasion, "El presidente Jorge Arbusto" called for adding 6,000 Border Patrol officers, erecting "high-tech fences in urban corridors," building "new patrol roads and barriers in rural areas," employing "unmanned aerial vehicles," infrared cameras and motion sensors at the border; ending "catch and release" by constructing new buildings to keep illegals in custody. He laid it all out with specificity in his speech.

The press, which doesn't give squat about border security, had seized on the immigration issue as a means to split the GOP base, in hopes of reaping a windfall this November. Like mice running on the hamster wheel, they thought they were getting 'traction' on this issue. After Bush's speech, they felt frustrated and baffled. Some lapsed into a childish snit. Yet another issue had been seized by this commanding figure, who breezily took center stage as only a powerful leader can, sweeping aside the oodles of media lies, nailing his enemies chapter and verse, reshaping the political landscape and debate on his terms. Bush would not be stampeded. His tone deaf windbag critics, showing yet again what little grasp they have of the Man from Midland, had been dealt another cruel blow.

If displaying their inexhaustible supply of ignorance was the goal of Bush's detractors, they have succeeded beyond their wildest expectations. Congratulations!

1. November 2006: Walk on water conservatives enable rats to take over congress.

2. February 2007: Rat controlled Congress cuts funds to fight war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

3. March 2007: America starts to pull out troops from Iraq, Afghanistan and Middle East due to lack of funding.

4. April/May 2007: As American troops leave Iraq and Afghanistan, the Islamofascists begin the slaughter of millions of innocents as per us leaving Nam history.

5. May/June 2007: Rats in control of the house, start impeachment proceedings against GW with help of walk on water conservatives.

6. Early Summer 2007: Leaky Leahy and Ted Kennedy disband NSA and all military intel operations and replace them with Mary McTraitor and her web of rats. She is made the new director of the CIA as General Hayden is found guilty of treason for daring to spy on al Qaeda.

Pelosi’s New CIA immediately closes down any conservative web site. Jim and John Robinson are arrested for treason, and the names and email addresses of all Freepers are seized by the New CIA. The new CIA raids the RNC office and Republican Offices in all states, counties and cities. The names and addresses of registered voters and in particular all donors are seized. Many are arrested at that time and sent to the new and enlarged Gitmo prisons staffed and managed by Castro’s people.

Ted and Patches Kennedy ram through the new Rat Controlled Congress, a bill outlawing the ownership of any gun. Pelosi, gleefully signs the bill and announces the hiring of thousands of Gays forced out the military as a new police force to enforce the new law. People have two weeks to turn their legal guns in or be shot for owning a gun. The primary targets of this new bill were any Republican or Conservative blogger who owned a gun. They were hunted down exterminated over the summer with the exception of the few who fled to Mexico.

7. Summer of 2007: American Stock market tanks as rats pass enormous spending bills and repeal GW tax cuts. Gold bugs are elated as Gold passes $1,000 per ounce. $inators Finestein and Boxer take over control of all American Oil Companies and stop all drilling in America. All American refineries are shut down and only gasoline imported from Cuban refineries using Opecker and S America oil is allowed to be sold. Severe rationing is put in for anyone who is not a member of the Elite Rat Limo Power Players.

8. Late Summer early Fall: Congress passes new taxes limiting the income of any corporation to 4% per year. Senate hearings are held and indictments are served to any execs of any corporation which made over 4% profit since GW was sworn in as president in 2001. Millions of Americans lose their jobs unless they are mining for gold as the evil corporations cut their workers to stay in business.

9. Fall/Winter 2007: The worse depression since Hoover begins in earnest with the Dow below 4000, and of course it is GW's Fault.

10. January/February 2008: The evil GW is removed from office impeached by the rats and happy walk on water conservatives. VP Cheney goes to jail for being associated with Haliburton on charges brought about by Fitzmas. Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House becomes President.

11. February to May 2008: President Pelosi and the rat controlled congress to prevent future wars, disband the Army, Navy/Marine Corps and Air Force. The Coast Guard is kept, and any Republicans are forced out. Nancy puts her Girly Boys from San Francisco in charge of the Coast Guard. The first thing they do is have all guns removed from the Coastie ships and men, and all the Coastie ships and boats are painted with the Gay Rainbow.

12. Late May 2008: President Pelosi disbands the Border Guards and replaces them with Social Service Workers to sign up anyone at any border for free food, medical care, drivers licenses with no tests, a social security card and a lifetime DNC voting card.

13. Summer of 2008: Riots break out over America as Walk on Water Conservatives continue blame to GW for what happened. They find themselves as targets of many rioters who blame them. No one has guns or knives, so rocks and clubs are the weapons of the street.

14. The rest of Summer 2008: The Dow drops below 500 as increased taxes and the Enviralist Eco Terrorists dominate what is left of the business world. The only people with jobs are the rats in government and those rolls are increasing each day. The only stocks that are thriving are the Rat Fascist controlled companies which own what was left of the MSM. Required viewing of Rat TV and movies and required reading of the Fish wraps with pop quizzes with serious consequences for those who fail, send those stocks soaring. Interest rates make the Jimmy Carter years look like a good deal.

15. September 11, 2008: With no US military, no real Coast Guard and no real border patrol to be afraid of, Bin Laden has the born again al Qaeda Hero's take out Seattle, San Francisco, LA, Las Vegas, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta, Boston and NYC. Washington DC is spared so President Pelosi can surrender the nation to Bin Laden before it is destroyed. Iran and North Korea supplied the bombs and China and Russia provided the transportation and how to knowledge.

16. September 12, 2008, President Pelosi unconditionally surrenders to Bin Laden. Immediately all American Flags over what is left of the nation are lowered for the last time and burnt.

17. September 13, 2008, Blue Burkas become mandatory dress code for every female in America. Any male not killed immediately, is taken away to some slave labor camp.

18. September 14, 2008, the new al Qaeda sport of shooting women in America in Blue Burkas in stadiums in what is left of America becomes the new national sport. First they are gang raped in Islamo style and then shot like the one below:
