Ths was never going to work. The House and Senate simply have too many RINO's to effect the kind of change that reformists dreamed of. Anyone who thought it would was blind. Thanks for the effort, but the strategery wasn't thought all the way through.
By bringing the immigration question to the top of the table, they have handed the dems a bat with which to beat us over the head for the next 20 years. Conservative and pub reformists looking for real progress and change will be characterized in the media as meanspirited racists and bigots while the dems nickel and dime the legislation and take the teeth out of any new law. They will be portrayed as the real champions.
I honestly wish I knew the answer to your question.
All this "good people just trying to make a better life for themselves and their families" crap makes me physically ill.
Another single issue conservative about to vote democrat to cut off his nose to spite their face.
If you believe this, in my opinion, you need to check yourself into a mental institution pronto (that would be fast for those who want an english only version).
DO you ever post anything worthwhile?
I've been to many a protest and I can say they accomplish a great deal. They are great fun for everyone who goes because there are always a few liberals who blow a head gasket when they see us. It's like watching a fireworks display only we get to watch a human liberal explode instead.
1) Because of conservatives like me, even the President was forced to give a speech about the issue this week. Conservatives like me are holding their feet to the fire and demanding action.
2) November is a long way off, but this issue is being voted upon this month. Now is when conservatives must take action and hold our representatives in Congress accountable for their actions.
3) Ignoring and excusing what the GOP is doing today, because of an absolute fear of election results in November, is almost criminal negligence.
Today is when your voice can be heard the loudest.
Today, is when the GOP will listen to you, and save themselves in November.
This is correct and we are getting there a little at a time.
Would you like some cheese with your whine?
If you read the rest of the sentence, you would have understood that it was sarcasm. FReepers chased AlGore out of the Naval Obwservatory and denied him the presidency. FReepers publicized the ballot fraud in Florida.
President Bush owes US his position. It's time we prodded his famous sense of loyalty.
RNC solisitor called looking for $$$$$ yesterday. I told her that as long as we have a "virtual fence" I will give them only virtual donations, so imagine I just gave you $10,000 bucks.
They haven't seen Crisis level yet.
But they will.
Ouch. Who owned the vehicle he was driving?
"While in office, they are respected and protected. However, when they eventually return to the status of private citizens, we will be waiting for them."
What do you do to them?
The left is going to call you racist no matter what you say or do.
My simple response has been "And your point is?"
It usually leaves them flustered.
I don't give a rats rear end if someone "thinks" I'm Racist or not.
My concern is for the safety of my country and damn those on the left who want to destroy it.
We have to develop an "I don't care what you think" attitude when dealing with those lowlife maggots.
I think some in the house will put up a good fight, but I don't have much confidence in the outcome.
Are you saying America should be reserved for white Europeans? I don't remember seeing that in the Constitution.
Force them to watch their grandkids scratch out a life in the mess they've made of our country.
"All illegal commit crimes, not some."
Fair enough. Are you saying illegals should be shot on sight by civilians for crossing the border?
"Climb down off the ledge. We have a good chance of torpedoing this entire issue in the House."
So if you torpedo the legislation in the House, where does that leave us? Back at the beginning?
"...and that if we'd been enforcing the broder as we should have been a lot more Americans would still be alive today."
We could have solved this problem 20 years ago when CA was screaming to the Feds about the cost of education and health. Know what happened? CA was told "bite off, it's YOUR problem".
I remember it distinctly. "Let the "Californicators" deal with the Mexicans, HAHAHAHAHA!", and that was coming mostly from conservatives. They thought it was real fuuny. Well, now the rest of the country has them on their doorstep and their not laughing now. We tried to tell people this wouldn't be confined to CA but everyone else was to busy yucking it up and high fiving each other over CA's "problem".
Americans, conservatives included, only have themselves to blame. This could have been fixed along time ago but their blind jealosy of CA and desire to stick their finger in our eye kept if from being addressed.
That's the real irony.
