Social Security for illegals OK'd
Senate blocks effort to limit benefits for those who become legal residents

The U.S. Senate today rejected an effort to limit Social Security benefits for illegal aliens who become permanent residents under an immigration reform bill being debated.
As it stands, the bill the Senate is considering would give millions of illegals a path to U.S. citizenship if they pay fines, back taxes and meet other requirements.
The Social Security proposal, offered by Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., would have prevented illegals who become legal from collecting the benefit on wages they earned while working unlawfully.
"Social Security was not intended for people who entered our country illegally," Ensign is quoted as saying.
Countered Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.: "Their money sits in the Social Security Administration waiting to be matched with an eligible beneficiary, and once those workers establish the eligibility, how in all fairness can we deny them the credit for their past contributions?"
Reuters reported that later today senators will consider an amendment to the bill by Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., to make English the national language.
As WorldNetDaily reported, yesterday the Senate approved an amendment to the immigration reform bill that would direct the building of a triple-layer fence along 370 miles of the southern border with Mexico.
The Bush administration today indicated the president supported the fence proposal.
"[Bush] doesn't think you fence off the entire border but there are places ... where fences are appropriate, and then, you build fences there," spokesman Tony Snow said.
A: Denying wrongdoers the fruits of their criminality is eminently "fair".
Why am I not surprised?
I am dead set against amnesty. I don't want a guest worker program for illegals without their returning home to apply for it, but I don't agree that anybody should have to pay into SS without being eligible for benefits.
So not only are they not penalized for earning money under illegal status, there is no talk of stopping the anchor baby policy, cutting off welfare benefits, or ending subsidized health care for illegals. Not to mention jailtime for employers of illegal labor.
But lets build a 370 mile wall along a 1951 mile border.
I better speed up my emigration plans for myself.
can anyone actually believe, in all honesty, that our Government will enforce, ANY LAW in regards to illegal aliens?
Doogle
Well if the invasion isn't already at full flood, it will be now.
How on earth will they match contributions to the illegals when they never had valid SS numbers in the first place. If someone randomly picked my SS# to work under does that mean they get all my benefits instead of me?
Kennedy is right, they should be able to collect the portion they paid in as they leave the country.
Even if they paid into it under an illegal status?
If I shoplifted a winning lottery ticket from a 7-11 and I got caught, would I be eligible to receive the check?
Deport them.
""But lets build a 370 mile wall along a 1951 mile border.""
Must be that fuzzy math we used to hear about.
When I cross the border to outlaw status and start robing banks, will I be excused and benefited in such fashion?
Apparently so. What a country, eh?
If they paid into it using false or stolen ID, send them to jail and them deport them.
...wait...that crisis is another thing this Government will "explain" away. Meanwhile SS#'s are being sold at record numbers and the Government does nothing to establish, or provide protection to it's Citizenry. Simple ID protection.....wait, it's coming massive fraud with the help of the government.
Why?
I have as less option to pay into SS than these illegals, and I'm not going to see but a portion of what I put in. Why favor the illegal worker over me with the full measure of his contributions? Also, will we be able to recoup the social cost, e.g., schools and medical services, that both you and I are providing for these tresspassers?
No - give them a ride home - period.
F--- Ted Kennedy!
lol I get it!
