Q:
"Their money sits in the Social Security Administration waiting to be matched with an eligible beneficiary, and once those workers establish the eligibility, how in all fairness can we deny them the credit for their past contributions?" A: Denying wrongdoers the fruits of their criminality is eminently "fair".

This is unreal. Social Security Trust having problems and these jerks pass this. This is an impeachable offense to all those who voted for it. Specter, I will never vote for him again. IMO.

I am dead set against amnesty. I don't want a guest worker program for illegals without their returning home to apply for it, but I don't agree that anybody should have to pay into SS without being eligible for benefits.

The Social Security proposal, offered by Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., would have prevented illegals who become legal from collecting the benefit on wages they earned while working unlawfully. So not only are they not penalized for earning money under illegal status, there is no talk of stopping the anchor baby policy, cutting off welfare benefits, or ending subsidized health care for illegals. Not to mention jailtime for employers of illegal labor.
But lets build a 370 mile wall along a 1951 mile border.

"Their money sits in the Social Security Administration waiting to be matched with an eligible beneficiary, and once those workers establish the eligibility, how in all fairness can we deny them the credit for their past contributions?" can anyone actually believe, in all honesty, that our Government will enforce, ANY LAW in regards to illegal aliens?

How on earth will they match contributions to the illegals when they never had valid SS numbers in the first place. If someone randomly picked my SS# to work under does that mean they get all my benefits instead of me?

Countered Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.: "Their money sits in the Social Security Administration waiting to be matched with an eligible beneficiary, and once those workers establish the eligibility, how in all fairness can we deny them the credit for their past contributions?" Kennedy is right, they should be able to collect the portion they paid in as they leave the country.

Even if they paid into it under an illegal status?
If I shoplifted a winning lottery ticket from a 7-11 and I got caught, would I be eligible to receive the check?

When I cross the border to outlaw status and start robing banks, will I be excused and benefited in such fashion?
To: Cementjungle
Apparently so. What a country, eh?

If they paid into it using false or stolen ID, send them to jail and them deport them.

randomly picked my SS# to work under does that mean they get all my benefits instead of me? ...wait...that crisis is another thing this Government will "explain" away. Meanwhile SS#'s are being sold at record numbers and the Government does nothing to establish, or provide protection to it's Citizenry. Simple ID protection.....wait, it's coming massive fraud with the help of the government.

Kennedy is right, they should be able to collect the portion they paid in as they leave the country. Why?
I have as less option to pay into SS than these illegals, and I'm not going to see but a portion of what I put in. Why favor the illegal worker over me with the full measure of his contributions? Also, will we be able to recoup the social cost, e.g., schools and medical services, that both you and I are providing for these tresspassers?
No - give them a ride home - period.
F--- Ted Kennedy!
