Chavez tied to terrorist. Now! that is a surprise.

I can't say what I think should happen to Chavez, Carter, Jackson, Sheehan, or any other American that has aided and abetted this terrorist criminal.

"while it shelters groups with ties to Middle East terrorists"

This gives us the excuse we need to actually bomb Chavez.

The scenario need to be thought out like this...

We absolutely need to bomb Iran. Chavez makes himself an unbearable problem by shutting off oil sales to The US. We expose Chavez Terrorist ties, declare him on the side of the Terrorists and bomb him out of power and installing a friendly government.

Fallout? Anti-US sentiment rises in South America and to some degree in other parts of the world.

I say bomb away!

An immediate impact of the decision is that Venezuela will be unable to buy spare parts from the United States to maintain its aging fleet of U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets. A senior military adviser to President Hugo Chavez said yesterday that Venezuela might now sell the planes to another country, possibly Iran.

Oh yeah. Like Iran would by broken down F-16s. They can't even fix their own broken down F-14s.

Wonder who planted this gem?

re :Time for a coup, and I hope the CIA's fingerprints are all over it.

Yep put in a strong man who will then in years to come turn around an p**s on America, and then we can get another in and another.

There is such a depressing familiarity about all this. From both sides as each ups the anti of charges against the other, as if both countries are locked and loaded into a confrontation.

There are three charges here

1)Failed to fully cooperate on counterterrorism.

2)Forging links with Middle eastern terrorists.

3)Backing Columbian Terrorists.

I believe number 1 straight away but does Venezuela have to co operate with America, not really it is a sovereign country.

What are these links to Middle Eastern countries, its easy to say operational secrecy dictates we cant say, but I think its now important, if America is not to be seen as the Bully in South America.

What is Columbia's take, if Venezuela involving herself with Columbian para military organisations then its up to Columbia to say something.

We still have the war with the Islamic terrorists to win, do we want to open another front, involve your self further in the murky world of South American Politics, and alienate even further other South American countries and those who are non aligned

Chavez gave a million dollars to Al Qaeda the week after 9/11. Chavez drove himself from Jordan (I believe it was) to Baghdad to see his buddy Saddam before the US-led invasion. This comes several years to late.

He's Latin America's Khadaffy Duck. Like Mallomar, he needs a "treatment". Perhaps when he tries shipping those F-16s..

If you're a rat, the only people you can turn to is other rats and bottom feeders. Hence, Venezuela has to get real friendly with people like Castro, Putin, the Mullahs in Iran. Once out of the club, you're left having to get friendly with people like Qaddafi. Who else can you turn too?

I say we help Uribe -- our best buddy in Latin America -- wipe out FARC in Colombia, which would surely give us an excuse to go next door and take out their benefactor, Chavez. Roll over Fidel while we're at it.

Spain's Zapatero should be held to account for his strong support of Chavez and thus of terrorism.
