The VENAF F16's are poorly maintained. They are at about 40% readiness.

The Iranians have the ability to get parts via circuitous means (they are still flying F14 TOMCATs). Apparently, VENAF is in negotiations to buy SU27's/30's.

We'll see how that goes.

"The VENAF F16's are poorly maintained. They are at about 40% readiness."

I was in the Navy, monitoring NVN TacAir during the period '68 -'70. I went back and worked for a few years in the mid-90's including Hai Phong, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. I kept wondering where the MIG's were; I saw a few every now and then in each of the above cities' airports. Then, once, I was flying from Hai Phong back South with a connection in Da Nang. While I was in the terminal, I looked out at the tarmac and there were all the MIGs, arranged just like a Commie would neatly arrange them, and obviously maintained just like a Commie would maintain them, piss poor.
