I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.

I'm all for enforcement .. absolutely. Like I said upthread, it's a no-win situation for W .. and the Critters are flopping like half-dead trout on the dock. The issue is what's realistically likely, given the current dynamics. W has taken a first brave step, something no other president has done this way, and God bless him.
The borders will remain open, the Border Patrol will be chasing coyotes and tumbleweeds with those high tech motion sensors, and even if the "Virtual Fence" works (which it won't, and the folks proposing it know that), Guest Worker euchers the whole project. So now mass flows of cheap, unprotected labor will be here legally, ensuring that employers don't even have to worry about INS.
Guest workers will legally have anchor babies, and immigration will expand.
Silver lining: lots more Catholics.
My husband and I have worked many of the jobs people say Americans won't do or aren't doing and I am insulted by those words. You say the younger generation won't do that type of work now; I will call BS on that, my stepson and daughter are working construction jobs right now and another daughter is working in an onion shed and doing other farm labor. None of my 4 children even has an ipod and only one has a laptop which she is using in trying to set up her own business. Very seldom do any of them go to a mall. You may know many young people like you describe but there are many out there that are not that way.
I do think there might not be enough Americans to fill all the jobs, If the issue was characterized that way I would not have an objection. The way it is worded now makes all Americans sound lazy and too good to work. I do think we need to figure out just how many workers we need and what type from other countries to make sure illegals don't take jobs from Americans, that Americans do want and are willing to do- which does happen now. Of course if the plan is to make employers follow the law- then I think the advantage of saving money by hiring illegals will evaporate and with no advantage over American workers much of that will stop.

So, liberalism hath bought us 'payback'? Right and wrong. Enough Americans are innocent of the leftist, cultural decay that we'll defend our homeland from this 'home on the prairie' invasion taking place, no matter.
A real American president would have both the Left and the MSM running for cover. A real American president wouldn't have to make excuses for problems that are solvable. A real American president would scare the sh*t out of any tinpot communist trying to get a foothold on any part of the 'Americas' (see Monroe Doctrine).
In short, a real president would act upon that which is in the best interest of America and probably piss off everyone else. He'd do so knowing that freedom and liberty have no equal in this world and thus, are worth protecting at all cost. That's right, when you're doubled up with Lady Liberty, you go all in. It's a sure hand.
Time to put my old head down to rest.
Enjoyed the thread, and I hope tempers will mellow and flames will extinguish themselves. We are a good bunch of people with differing opinions and know we shall all come to our senses when the time is right.

That's stupid! I'm certainly no troll and it's just short sighted to say that anyone signed up after you is suspect. Maybe some of us actually live very close to a major border (San Ysidro)and see what is going on. How our businessmen are being are being kidnapped and held for ransom. We had this happen to three men a few weeks ago. I see first hand that the illegals DON"T want to asimilate to our American ways. I can't even be a poll worker because I'm not bilingual! Angry....you bet! And complain I will!
