[history]
I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.

"Son, I was here defending and campaigning for Bush long before you came around, a few months ago. In fact, I got an invitation from Bush to his first inauguration because of the work I did for him and Cheney, including, but not limited to organizing rallies here on Free Republic. I have donated to this wonderful meeting place in time and in money. As a matter of fact, I was was the first chapter president of the Michigan Freepers back in 2000. So don't tell me where my loyalty lies. It's Bush's, and RINOS in the Senate's loyalty that is in question! We have been betrayed, not the other way around."
Thats great. How does that square with your previous post I responded to ?

bfree said, ""And the vast majority of Mexican Americans in this country qualify the same way. Many of the families were here before the Mayflower even launched.""
I asked what bfree was smoking and bfree told me to read a history book. I then asked, "So you are arguing that the "vast majority" of "Mexican Americans" in this nation have had ancestry in this nation since before the launch of the Mayflower? Is that what you are asserting?"
Old_sage_says said, "Slight correction. The Mayflower landed in 1620. Jamestown, the 1st permanent English settlement, was in 1607. I invite you to come to "the birthplace of America", the Old Dominion, the great state of Virginia and celebrate with us, our 400th birthday in 2007."
To which bfree replied, "Are you THAT dimwitted enough not to realize that Texas, California and the whole southwest were not part of Mexico at the time?"
Now I ask bfree what was the Mexican population of all SW border states under Mexico compared to an equal number of states from the original 13 colonies in the year 1800? If your assertion were true then it stands to reason that their populations should have been comparable. I'll trust your sources and look forward to your answer.

NG is going down their SOON and will work there until the additional BP can be hired and trained - - as the BP transitions in, the NG will transition out and that, with the walls in the urban areas and the virtual walls in the rural areas, drones, sensors, etc. should be completely in place in 2008. As one who spent 25+ years in federal law enforcement, 7 of those in DC "spinning" enforcement statistics, dream on! This was merely a last minute "smoke and mirrors job" to dupe the gullible!
This problem existed decades ago and everyone knew it (and did nothing to solve it), there is no one in politics (of any real consequence) who will actually deal with it!
Smile and be happy America..., don't bother rereading the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire or, if you do, I am certain you will fall back to sleep before grasping any historical lessons from it!

Watch for some amendments to come up tomorrow on the floor of the Senate.

Yep. Seal the border, deport illegals, build a wall, fine employers ten times what they saved by hiring illegals. That will fix most of the problem, guaranteed.

It was pathetic and off target.
Nobody here is talking about it though-- they're too busy bashing one of the great conservative presidents ever-- President Bush.
To: FreeReign
huh? If it's a "job Americans aren't doing", it's not an American job.
Not every job in the world must be an American job.

I know damned well when the WTC was first bombed. In 1993 and slick willie didn't even bother to come to NY. And I kow damned well who was president for embassy bombings and USS Cole bombings too and who cut and ran from Somalia too.
And it wasn't anyone named Bush.

if we can get criminal background checks on 11 mil illegals (wink, wink, like we're REALLY gonna do that), we can deport them.
This is a CROCK.

He said 'Jobs Americans are NOT doing', not "Jobs Americans WON'T do".
He is absolutely correct. We are NOT doing those jobs now, they are being done by the illegal immigrants.
What remains to be seen is if they will still be jobs Americans are not doing when the employers have to pay the immigrants a fair wage and benefits and social security.
But it was a clever change, and I appreciate a President who notes the difference.

Law enforcement is the conservative position. You're for the opposite. So are the Democrats. So are the Marxists. So is the World Worker's Party and International ANSWER. So is La Raza. When are your DU dues due? Arent you supposed to be reporting back, soon? You have proven Rush's projection theory. I have been here for years and have never seen you before tonight. Ill bet we dont se you again. Im calling you out as a troll. Probaly wont mean anything, but you are not what you claim to be. Ill bet on it..

LOL! Wow - I bet he was spitting even more than usual ;-)
p.s. I thought it was pretty good - parts I would've changed, but not bad, especially since the DNC, MSM and many Pubbies had already starting bashing him yesterday before they even knew what he was going to say.

I agree 100%.
This legislation will change nothing.
