I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.

Exactly - I haven't seen anyone seriously advocate mass roundups. Self-deportation has been the approach that has been overwhelmingly advocated here on FR.
I think the concept of 'self deportation' is the key. I don't think we need to deport millions of illegals. We need to enforce the law, take away their benefits, and they will leave of their own accord.
I am willing to see the problem diminish over time. Seal the border, remove the incentives to be here, and we will see gradual improvement and resolution of the problem.
I'm signing on.

I work with a bunch of libs and we cannot agree on anything. Except this. We have not been this united since immediately after 9/11.
The irony is that libs in my office offer solutions to the problem that are so out there- I couldn't repeat them.

President Bush has provided a blueprint and now the leadership for immigration reform. He will never appease the unappeasables. Congress is now responsible to turn Bush's plan into real border enforcement. I thought the President hit that one out of the park.

Bush's tax cut would be revoked.
His No Child Left Behind would be gutted (except for the money to the schools) guaranteeing ignorance from public school graduates.
The Medicare plan would drop private company's participation and be totally government run and funded, just as Gore wanted.
There would be no chance for additional conservative judges to be appointed for any level, much less the Supreme Court.
Repeal of Roe v. Wade would be impossible.
Illegal immigrants would be given amnesty and citizenship, guaranteeing Dem control of many southwestern states. No wall, no nothing!
America would turn tail and run from Iraq, making OBL very happy, and letting the rest of the Muslim world know we are the wimps OBL says we are.
Iran will get a nuclear weapon.
Israel would be abandoned in favor of Palestine.
No new refineries, no nuclear plants, no drilling for oil or gas in the continental US would be allowed.
Labor unions will be running homeland security.
We can watch while every moonbat charge of the last six years is investigated by Congress....tying up the Administration and the military testifying.

Yeah, with all the illegals and the under-the-table economy still going, and of course NO FINES for the employers, which of these employers is going to get rid of their illegals for $5 an hour and hire the Official Guest Workers at $10 an hour?
