Absolutely!

I think that November elections are going to be a disaster. Bush had a chance to reestablish his base tonight and he completely blew it by proposing amnesty for the 30mm illegals. This is simply unacceptable. GOP will suffer because of this speech.

But if Dems win a majority, I have a suspicion that they will try to impeach Bush. It will get really ugly but the President had a chance to avert it tonight. Oh well...

How is November going to be a disaster?

Are that many people who call themselves 'conservatives' UN-AMERICAN enough to not vote?

If you do not plan on voting, take a trip to Arlington Cemetery and urinate on soldiers graves.

They died for your right to vote.

The GOP will not lose in 2006 unless the conservative base is littered with UN-AMERICAN non-voters.

Where in that speach did you hear Bush propose Amnesty for the 20 million illegals? Because it's funny, but my wife and I both watched it and didn't hear him propose amnesty. He made it clear that it wasn't fair for people who broke the law to get ahead of the line for citizenship over the good people who obey our laws and pay taxes and do what they're supposed to in waiting for citizenship. November elections won't be a disaster, unless conservatives quit voting for conservatives. Bush finally sounded like a conservative tonight. All the things he said are opposed by the democrats. And now the democrats will be vocal about opposing them and that will put them at odds with 70& or more of the American people, and 20% of that number are not conservatives, so how do you think the democrats will win in November when many of those who support real border security are not Republicans and many of those will not vote for democrats weak on border security.

Bush clearly said he would not support a bill that gives amnesty, but a worker program which is not amnesty, and also required that they learn English. That's not something democrats support either.
