A Democrat candidate in Alabama who denies the Holocaust occurred and seeks to "reawaken white racial awareness" is causing problems for state party leaders.
Larry Darby, running for attorney general, believes fewer than 140,000 Jews died in Europe during World War II and contends most of them were afflicted with typhus, the Associated Press reported.
The candidate, head of the Atheist Law Center, says the commonly held number of 6 million Jews killed by the Nazis is a false claim of the "Holocaust industry."
The AP said Darby is scheduled to speak Saturday in New Jersey at a meeting of National Vanguard, a group that considers itself an advocate for white people.
"It's time to stop pushing down the white man," Darby told the AP. "We've been discriminated against too long."
Darby ran unsuccessfully for the attorney general post in 2002 as a Libertarian, but his racial views largely were unknown at the time.
Now, despite no campaign advertising funds and just a handful of speeches, he is favored by 12 percent of registered voters, according to a recent poll on the June 6 primary.
The survey showed Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson leading with 21 percent of the vote.
As many as two-thirds of respondents, however, said they were undecided.
Darby's candidacy is being investigated by the state Democratic Party, which says it backs free speech rights of candidates but recognizes there are limits.
Joe Turnham, the Alabama party chairman, told the AP some of Darby's views appear to be in "a realm of thought that is unacceptable."
"Any type of hatred toward groups of people, especially for political gain, is completely unacceptable in the Alabama Democratic Party," said Turnham.
The AP said the party could decide to not certify the votes if Darby were to win.
"It's time to stop pushing down the white man," Darby told the AP. "We've been discriminated against too long."
Every Jew I've ever met was a "white man". Darby, you're a dumb cracker b*stard.
But, but... I thought all racists were Republicans!
The Idiot would have to be from Alabama wouldn't he. Good grief, we seem to have an overpopulation of nuts here lately.
As someone who was friends with one of the famed "Timberwolves", may he rest in peace now. I suppose the man was having a hallucination when he saw the burned bodies, when he smelled the burned flesh, when he liberated the few survivors that they did from several death camps?
Trust me, most Alabamians will not tolerate this kind of ill-informed LOON! come election day.
Wasn't his guy one of Howard Deans' butt-buddies at the last dnc convention? He needs our full support! HAHA
"Darby, you're a dumb cracker b*stard."
Your statement reinforces his statement. Unless you were being sarcastic.
Oops, democrat saying what he really believes.
What happened to "celebrate diversity?" Doesn't diversity imply people from all backgrounds? Isn't there supposed to be an "equality of cultures" that values people from all heritages?
I guess not.
Hey Dems! At least he's an atheist. You can celebrate that!
ha! I was going to ping sjackson too.
Check out this sideshow.
So where are Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton on this? If a Republican was speaking to a White power rally they would be all over it.
What?! This idiot denies the Holocaust and implies Jews aren't "white", I meant what I said. I'm not pushing down the "white man" (I am one) - I'm pushing down Darby.
This is why I'm reading about this story on worldnetdaily.
if there was ever a need for a fauxNEWS alert....
yEAH.. PRETTY QUIET...HMMMM.
Anti-semitism is common among democrats these days, especially black and radical dirtbags like Representatives Cynthia McKinney and Jim Moran as examples. This piece of feces should fit right in with his fellow democrats. Robert KKK Byrd is proud.
but... but... only Republicans are racists - not Democrats never ever ever (/sarcasm)
Why would this guy's views bother Democrats? Hasn't Robert Byrd been a party stalwart for decades? Heck's bells, this is the party where even vegetables have rights.
