Rove's Indictment? (Or is it really the wacky-left thats going down?)

Posted on 05/15/2006 9:34:31 AM PDT by Pukin Dog

Yeah, I am back with another completely unsubstantiated Washington rumor, just deal with it.

What is NOT rumor, is that Rove's people and others have COMPLETELY DENIED what is proving to be the biggest unreported story in Washington right now, and Chris Matthews is going to be in a really bad mood tonight.

I was just having a conversation with one of my Pentagon buddies about Rove (who is right now LIVE on CSPAN, if you haven’t been watching,) and the subject of all the stories of Rove’s Indictment came up.

My friend laughed and said that there is a lot of talk going on under the scenes about this whole thing being an attempt by the more moderate-left setting this story up to discredit their wacky-left base, as represented by Dummies and others who have one important thing in common; their distrust of Hillary Clinton and the DLC.

After spending most of the weekend, trying to verify all the rumors of the pending indictment and coming up empty, big media are now looking into how this story became the “big secret that everyone knew about” but that no one could prove. They want to know just who told Leopold the rumor that caused the MSM to lose their weekend sleep.

A theory is going around that Leopold and the Wacky-left have been set up. There are those in the Democrat Party who believe that it is the wacky-left that is keeping them from getting ahead, as represented by Howard Dean, John Conyers and others for whom anger is their prime motivation.

A number of wacky-left bloggers have been working very hard to establish positions of power and authority within the Democratic Party, but with mostly disastrous results for the party when their advice has been followed.

One of those pieces of advice was to put Nancy Pelosi on television recently and allowing her to throw meat to the wacky-left base by suggesting that the Democrats would indeed begin investigations of President Bush, should they win in November. Smarter Dems cringed as Pelosi proceed to confirm RNC talking points. Pelosi was later forced to claim that the Democrats “Have no interest in pursuing impeachment proceedings against Bush; sounding about as credible as saying “Pukin Dog has no interest in pursuing large breasted women.”

In repeated surveys and online polling among the left-wing bloggers, Hillary Clinton is consistently losing to “Other” and “None of the above”. Would it not be just beautiful if the Democrats are actively trying to discredit their own wacky-base by discrediting the wackos with the MSM? Is it just too juicy and Machiavellian to contemplate? A leak suggesting Rove’s impending indictment shared with the wacky-left would be harder to avoid then Michael Moore’s body odor. They would have to run with it, no matter who gave it to them.

I watched Rove this morning for signs of nerves, impending doom, anger, or so much as a nervous tick, and all I detected was a sly grin, bordering on him being ready to break into laughter. It has been fun to watch people like John (Fitzmas) Kerry pander to those wack-jobs in an attempt to gain their support for another run (directly into a wall) as he races Al Gore and Prince Wesley for their wheat-grass money. If the wacky-left goes down in flames this week and begin attacking each other for another Fitzmas gone bad, who would be left standing?

Again, its just another Washington rumor, but like Fitzmas itself, just too juicy not to share.

What do YOU think?

Another transparent propaganda technique.

Talking about whether someone will be indicted, implies they have committed a crime and the only question is if they will be charged.

On local TV the other night, there was a story about a teacher who was arrested on the basis of a single accusation by a single witness, concerning an incident which occurred 2 years ago.
The newscaster said "Police are asking for other victims to come forward and report ....." Assumption is clearly the person is guilty of multiple cases of sex abuse.
What if the police said; "the wanted to talk to, any adult who may have been falsely accused by (teenagers Name), who is claiming he was molested.

I think the proper wording is something like "Police would like to speak with anyone with information about this case."

I think there is some lefty bimbo in the copy room at Luskin's law firm who is leaking stuff to Leopold and his ilk, but she doesn't know the truth and just wants her fellow "true believers" to still believe that Rove is going down.

What I can't believe is that morons like David Corn and Joe Wilson and Chris Matthews still think this damn case is important at all, with the CIA leaking REAL secrets like a freaking sieve.

NRO Corner - Byron York

I talked with Rove defense spokesman Mark Corallo, who told me the story was completely baseless. Part of our conversation:

Did Patrick Fitzgerald come to Patton Boggs for 15 hours Friday?
No.
Did he come to Patton Boggs for any period of time Friday?
No.
Did he meet anywhere else with Karl Rove's representatives?
No.
Did he communicate in any way with Karl Rove's representatives?
No.
Did he inform Rove or Rove's representatives that Rove had been indicted?
No.

So there seems to be nothing to the story, certainly nothing which any other reporter has seen fit to report. Which raises a question: What is going on here? The journalists who checked out the story, quite properly, did not repeat Leopold's bad information. But for some media blogger out there, it might be reasonable to ask: Where are these reports coming from?

Pukin, the only problem with your theory is that it assumes the MSM must be duped into reporting a false story. The MSM needs no help in discrediting itself. It does so completely of its own volition, and is very happy to leap before it looks on any story that might discredit the Bush administration. And why not? The Moonbats lap it right up, and lately it appears that even many "conservatives" believe what ever the media feeds them. No matter how many times the media proves itself un-credible.

No, no you missed it. (just like AF) The MSM will discredit the wacky-left blogs. Every major news organization spent the entire weekend trying to confirm the Rove story and failed. Everyone of them was hoping to run with the story this morning upon confirmed information. Chris Matthews was even joking about "the story I cant talk about yet".

That Leopold dude is going to want to crawl under a rock by the end of this week. Nobody is going to take his calls anymore, and sites like DU are headed for the scrap heap, along with Kerry, Gore and anyone else those fools support.

I have visited DU probably less than 10 times, ever.

I have yet to read fact-based post that presents a rational argument.

I guess my expectations are met at each visit to DU ;-)

Pukin, as usual the Navy is only focused on 400 feet of carrier deck, and missing the rest of war. The MSM hasn't even reported the story. So why do you believe they are going to try to discredit the wacky-left blogs? Now that the story has been exposed as another obvious lie, do you think they are going to report "Left Wing Blogs Report False Story about Rove"? Ha. If this had been a story from a Right Wing blog site its discrediting may have made the newswires. But since it was from the left, it will be quietly pushed under the carpet.

On a serious note. It really is a shame that people want someone indicted just because he is in the opposition party. Truth, facts, guilt or innocence are meaningless. We really are not that far from Cuba or other pseudo-democracies after all.

Okay Batman's brother, let me try this again?

I never said that the MSM would PUBLICLY discredit the wacky-left, only that they would discredit them. What I mean by that, is that they will be less likely to use them as sources describing the state of left-wing activism. They are more likely to dismiss the nuts as NUTS, and find sources (sources more friendly to Hillary) in their push-polling and agenda-based reporting.

The Leopold dude says that he will out his sources if the Rove has been indicted story turns out not to be true. And Larry Johnson still claims that Joe Wilson heard the same thing from sources other than Leopold.

I wouldn't doubt that the MSM will try to discredit Internet bloggers. It's not like they haven't tried before.

"Okay Batman's brother, let me try this again?"

lol. You're just jealous you didn't think of it first.

"What I mean by that, is that they will be less likely to use them as sources describing the state of left-wing activism."

The MSM is a left wing blog. They are one and the same. They can't ignore the Moonbat fruitcakes anymore than you can ignore your right arm. What depresses me, is that more and more the same can be said of the libertarian, anti-Bush crowd that frequent sites like this. I guess whackos are whackos.
